‘Hawaii Five-0’ Season 8 Possibly Final Season As Peter Lenkov, Eric Guggenheim Team Up For ‘Magnum P.I.’

It looks like CBS has big plans for the next year. It has recently been announced that the network will produce the long-awaited reboot of Magnum P.I., the crime series that starred Blue Bloods actor Tom Selleck. But is it possible that the new show could also lead to the cancellation of another beloved crime drama? Will Hawaii Five-0 end up being canceled in favor of the upcoming reboot?

People have been talking about the possibility that Magnum P.I. will be brought back to television. After all, there have been speculations that a spin-off series featuring Tommy Magnum’s daughter is in the works. Luckily, the show that made Tom Selleck a star is officially making a comeback. However, fans of Hawaii Five-0 are also concerned that the show will cause the cancellation of CBS’ other reboot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peter M. Lenkov will write the new episodes for the Magnum P.I. reboot. The Hawaii Five-0 showrunner will be collaborating with Eric Guggenheim while John Fox and John Davis of The Blacklist will both serve as executive producers.

Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim’s involvement in the Magnum P.I. reboot is certainly a welcome one. After all, they have already succeeded with the new Hawaii Five-0, which has thrilled fans for eight seasons. Nevertheless, some people are concerned that Lenkov will abandon the Alex O’Loughlin series and focus on the new series. His absence could potentially lead to the cancellation of H50 after Season 8 concludes.

So is it possible that Hawaii Five-0 Season 8 will be the last one for the CBS series? Although Peter Lenkov’s new project might sound like it will take much of his time, it is possible that the showrunner will not give up on his H50 ohana quite easily. Hopefully, the show will continue long after the eighth season so fans can still see more of Steve McGarrett, Danny Williams, and the rest of Five-0.

Hawaii Five-0 Season 8 is currently airing on CBS every Friday nights. There is no word yet on when Magnum P.I. will begin production but there are speculations that the series will debut in 2018.
