‘Dragon Ball Super’ Episode 113 Preview Analysis: Goku Will Likely Teach SSJ3 To Caulifla And Kale
The next episode preview for Dragon Ball Super Episode 113 was as direct as fans could expect it to be. With a title like “Thrilled Fighting Maniacs Saiyans Battle Again!!” there is very little left to the imagination. While the clash of the U6 and U7 Saiyans is inevitable, one particular tidbit of information emerged from the short preview, and it has managed to excite avid fans of the long-running anime franchise.
As it turns out, Dragon Ball Super Episode 113 might very well feature the return of Goku’s Super Saiyan 3 form.
It’s true. Goku said it himself during the preview for Dragon Ball Super Episode 113. According to the veteran Universe 7 fighter, the coordinated attacks of Caulifla and Kale would be enough to get him on the defensive. Impressed by the improvement of the U6 Saiyan girls, Goku remarked that he would be showing them Super Saiyan 3.
Super Saiyan 3 holds a special place in the hearts of many Dragon Ball fans, especially since the form in itself is responsible for one of the most out-of-this-world, memorable sequences in Dragon Ball Z. Goku was the first character in the franchise to attain the SSJ3 state, though he did so while he was in the Other World.
According to Dragon Ball canon, Super Saiyan 3 is a form that draws out all the fighting potential from every single drop of a Saiyan’s blood. So potent was the transformation that when Goku went SSJ3 for the first time, his energy almost caused the planet to collapse.
Here’s the first appearance of the Super Saiyan 3 form from Dragon Ball Z. Note the massive collateral damage that resulted from Goku’s raw power, and the iconic, near-constant rage-yelling.
If the preview for Dragon Ball Super Episode 113 is any indication, it seems like Goku would be passing the SSJ3 torch to Caulifla and Kale. The two female Saiyans have, after all, shown that they have a lot of potential, with the former attaining SSJ2 after just a few hours of training and the latter mastering the LSSJ form while fighting in the Tournament of Power.
In a lot of ways, Goku teaching the SSJ3 form to the two female Saiyans is a nod to the form itself. Since DBS began, SSJ3 has been pretty much useless, as the transformation could not hold a candle to Super Saiyan Blue or Super Saiyan God. It was used by Goku in his fight against Beerus, but it was so overpowered that its appearance was practically null and void.

At the hands of Universe 6’s Saiyans, the powerful, dramatic form could be relevant once more. Caulifla and Kale, after all, still have their work cut out for them in the Tournament of Power. With SSJ3 at their disposal, the two female Saiyans could still give their universe a real fighting chance.
The scenes of the preview all tease several scenes in the upcoming episode, from Goku and Caulifla trading blows, to the U7 veteran transforming to SSJ1. If the previews are any indication, the next Dragon Ball Super installment would most definitely live up to its title — it would truly feature an intense, almost maniacal battle between U6 and U7’s Saiyans.
And that, in a lot of ways, usually points to a fully enjoyable Dragon Ball Super episode.
