WWE News: Update On Enzo Amore Vs. Neville Feud Reveals ‘205 Live’ Star Had Big Plan Ahead
The short-lived rivalry between WWE Cruiserweight division stars Enzo Amore and Neville involved a “bigger” plan for the future. Apparently, there were backstage plans for Enzo to add something more to his 205 Live story as he continued to fight with Neville over the Cruiserweight Championship. However, Neville seems to have walked away from all of that while Enzo has dropped the Cruiserweight title to the current title holder Kalisto. With that said, the “King of the Cruiserweights” was originally in the plan to get his title back, but Enzo was going to have something big lined up too.
Over the past week, details have been surfacing regarding Enzo’s situation with losing the Cruiserweight title to Kalisto on last Monday’s WWE Raw. A report via Dirty Sheets indicated that Enzo lost the title simply to “cancel out the no-contact clause” that Enzo had Raw General Manager Kurt Angle sign for him. Kalisto had just signed with the Cruiserweight division, making him exempt from the clause, but then Angle added a Lumberjack stipulation. Enzo went on to lose the title to Kalisto in that match, but there was a longer-term plan where Neville was going to be the one to regain the title from Enzo.
However, the interesting piece of information that has come out is with regards to backstage plans to give Enzo Amore his own bodyguard. The idea was to make it similar to when “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels enlisted the help of a guy named Diesel, aka Kevin Nash, to roam the ringside area for him. The report indicates that at least two names were mentioned as possible candidates for Enzo’s bodyguard with former TNA Impact Wrestling star Gunner one of them, and Babatunde Aiyegbushi the other one.
Aiyegbushi is currently working with WWE and training at their WWE Performance Center, according to Sportskeeda. He’s a 6-foot-9 superstar who would certainly provide an intimidating sort of ringside helper for the smaller Enzo. The plan was that Enzo would have this larger outside force help him win the Cruiserweight Championship back for another title reign. Surprisingly, that also seems like a great short-term role for Enzo’s former pal Big Cass, but he’s currently in recovery mode with an injury that will have him back sometime next year.
Of course, that could still go down, if WWE decides to put the plan in motion. Right now, it appears that Kalisto is going to carry the title at least until the next pay-per-view since WWE is honoring Hispanic Heritage month. However, it’s been seen before that this particular title can change hands unexpectedly as it did when Akira Tozawa dropped it on Raw ahead of a pay-per-view that weekend. The same could be said of Enzo’s surprising win at the pay-per-view over the best Cruiserweight champion in the current era.
