Additional Details Revealed And Amendments Made To Brand New Dog Policy For Walt Disney World Resorts
Just a few days ago, it was announced that Walt Disney World would now allow dogs in their resort hotel rooms and more details are coming out about how everything will be handled. For quite a long time, service and comfort animals have been allowed at the resort hotels and theme parks, but now, guests can also bring any dog they choose. It is an announcement that has brought about mixed feelings, but it looks as if things are going to stay and so can dogs.
As reported by the Disney Parks Blog, dogs are now allowed in four of the Walt Disney World resort properties beginning on Oct. 15, 2017. Dogs of any kind are now allowed at these four resorts with pet-cleaning rates announced as well.
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort: $50 per night
- Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – Cabins: $50 per night
- Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort: $50 per night
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort: $75 per night
There are some other limitations on having the dogs on property and Disney has revealed that they will “designate certain floors or sections of a hotel as dog-friendly.” The majority of all other areas at these four resorts will remain “canine-free” to help accommodate guests with allergies or other concerns.
So, it won’t be that any of these four resorts are swarmed with dogs in all areas or buildings.
All four resorts now have “Dog-Friendly Accommodations” information on their pages on the official website for Walt Disney World. Upon checking in, guests will receive Pluto’s Welcome Kit, which will have a mat, bowls, ID tag, puppy pads, dog walking maps, and more for their furry friends.
There is a lot more that needs to be known, though, if you’re looking to bring your dog(s) to Walt Disney World, as reported by WDW Magic.
- Limit of two dogs per room and only dogs are allowed, not other animals
- Dogs must be well-behaved and are not allowed on the furniture in public areas
- Dogs need to be supervised at all time and not left alone in rooms for more than seven hours
- Guests are responsible for the behavior, proper care, and waste maintenance of all dogs at any time
- Dogs should be silent when left alone in guest rooms. If not, guests will be called by the resort to handle the noise within 30 minutes
- “Do Not Disturb” door hangers must be left outside the room when guests are not in rooms with dogs. Housekeeping will only be done when guests are present.
- In public spaces, dogs must be leashed and restrained at all times
- Dogs are not permitted in Walt Disney World theme parks or Disney Springs unless they are licensed service animals
- Up-to-date vaccination records must be available for Disney if requested
- Dogs are not allowed in pool areas, fitness centers, food and beverage locations, Club lounges, or other public areas unless they are licensed service animals
- Dogs are allowed on Disney’s Magical Express and Minnie Vans as long as they are kept in pet carriers, but they are not allowed on other Disney transportation unless they are a licensed service animal
Walt Disney World choosing to allow dogs into four of their resort hotel properties is huge, as it means there will be a lot more animals around now. While this may work out well for some guests, it has appeared to bring up a lot more complaints and concerns than expected. The rules are in place and there are limitations for where the dogs can go, but it’s going to be interesting to see just how well things go.
