Considering that Dead Space 3 introduces a number of new gameplay mechanics to the third-person shooter / survival horror franchise, some of you might want to give the game a try before throwing down your hard-earned money when the game releases this February.
Starting next month, you can.
This morning, Electronic Arts and developer Visceral Games confirmed that Dead Space 3 will be getting a demo on January 22. The demo will see a release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, but it looks like PC gamers will be left in the dust, sadly.
If you just can’t wait that long to get your hands on the demo, EA is offering an opportunity to get in a week early–for Xbox 360 users, at least. To do so, all you have to do is head over to this link and sign up. Once it’s time, EA will presumably send over a code.
An Origin account is required, so be sure you have one of those if you don’t already.
So what can you expect to see in the Dead Space 3 demo apart from the obvious encounters with Necromorphs? Here’s the lowdown from EA:
“In the demo, players will be thrust into deep space terror when unwilling hero – Isaac Clarke – and all-new co-op companion – Sergeant John Carver – crash land on Tau Volantis, an unforgiving ice planet teeming with Necromorphs.”
The Dead Space 3 demo will also allow you to try out the new cover system, which is an.. interesting addition to a survival horror franchise. I’m curious to see how well that plays out.
Will you give the Dead Space 3 demo a spin, or have you written the game off?
