‘One Piece’ Chapter 882: Gear 5 Or Awakening, How Will Luffy Defeat Katakuri?
Fans can feel it in their bones; Luffy is going to seriously fight Katakuri in Oda’s hit manga series One Piece Chapter 882 and succeeding chapters. Somehow, the stage is set; fans are probably united in their expectation that Luffy will give Katakuri the fight of his life, a fight that Luffy will, hopefully, win at the end. What fans can’t agree on, however, is how Luffy may match and eventually best Katakuri’s supposedly superior strength.
Jinbe Saves The Day
It looks like previous One Piece manga speculations by the Inquisitr were correct after all, at least partially that is. Jinbe, with his familiarity with the sea, became a crucial factor in saving the lives of the Straw Hats on board the Thousand Sunny.
Previously, the entire crew was in danger of going to the bottom of the sea thanks to a big wave created by Big Mom herself. While it was previously speculated that Jinbe might have a hand in rescuing the team from drowning, Sunny did not have to sink for Jinbe to become the hero. In One Piece Chapter 881, which is already available on a number of online sites such as Mangastream, Jinbe took over Thousand Sunny’s helm. But instead of trying to flee the tsunami, he steered the ship toward it instead.

Jinbe steered the ship toward the wave because he wanted to take advantage of its green room, or that space inside the barrel of a breaking wave. Once inside, Jinbe basically used the Thousand Sunny as a surfboard, successfully steering the ship away from the wave. Meanwhile, Big Mom and Perospero assumed that the ship and its crew was already on their way to a watery grave as they did not notice the ship slip sideways to evade the danger.
Luffy To Get More Serious In Fight Against Katakuri
Meanwhile, the events in the previous chapter seem to hint that Katakuri will be in for a surprise in the coming One Piece Chapter 882. After learning that his teammates are safe, Luffy crashed the last piece of broken mirror, breaking off his communication with Nami. A brief look of satisfaction was shown on his face, but it was quickly replaced by a look of pure determination as he told Katakuri that he has no plans of dying inside Brulee’s mirror world.
Of course, every fan expects Luffy to become even more determined in defeating Katakuri in One Piece 882. However, not everyone agrees on just how Luffy might manage to best Katakuri, a seemingly impossible feat given the fact that he is known to be the strongest among Big Mom’s three Sweet Commanders.
But still, theories abound on just how this might come to pass. For instance, there are speculations that Luffy could undergo awakening in One Piece Chapter 882. Though the mechanism on how it can be triggered is still unclear, it is said to have happened in the distant past with the result of drastically increasing the power of a fighter’s techniques.

Another speculation doing the rounds is that Luffy might develop the Gear 5 technique to breach the power difference between himself and his opponent. While indeed a tempting thought, not many fans believe it can actually happen so soon. What many are hoping, though, is that Luffy will develop a new Gear 4 technique effective enough to counter Katakuri’s mochi-based attacks.
And finally, it is also possible that Luffy might find a weakness in Katakuri’s mochi in the coming One Piece Chapter 882. As previously discussed in an Inquisitr article, Oda might have introduced a weakness inherent to Katakuri’s mochi-based attack waiting to be uncovered, a fatal weakness that can be compared to Cracker’s biscuit soldiers becoming soft against water.
Unfortunately, fans will have to endure a bit of waiting before they will know just what kind of surprise Oda has in store for them. The team is on a break this week, which means that the One Piece 882 release date will be moved a week later or on October 23, 2017.
