‘Tokyo Ghoul’ Season 3 Release Date Confirmed For 2018 Anime: Watch The ‘Tokyo Ghoul: Re’ Trailer Video [Spoilers]
The anime Tokyo Ghoul Season 3 release date has officially been confirmed by manga creator Sui Ishida and multiple promotions to be in April, the spring of 2018. In addition, it is confirmed that this anime adaptation will be based on the Tokyo Ghoul: re manga and it will not be a reboot of the anime story. The plot for the first two seasons of the anime was based on scripts written by Chuji Mikasano at Studio Pierrot. Many fans of the manga were not happy at all with Tokyo Ghoul: Root A because the anime version had Ken Kaneki joining the Aogiri Tree ghoul organization rather than form his own group to protect his friends. There were also many details left out that led to plot developments in the Tokyo Ghoul: re story.
The Tokyo Ghoul: re trailer video does show that Kaneki voice actor Natsuki Hanae is returning as the lead. Studio Pierrot has also announced the new staff for the third season and already fans are upset. The voice actors cast is as follows.
- Haise Sasaki is played by Natsuki Hanae
- Kuki Urie is played by Kaito Ishikawa
- Ginshi Shirazu is played by Yuuma Uchida
- Toru Mutsuki is played by Natsumi Fujiwara
- Saiko Yonebayashi is played by Ayane Sakura
In December of 2017, the newest trailer video specified the exact timing for the Tokyo Ghoul Season 3 release date. Based on the announcement, the Tokyo Ghoul: re release date is happening on April 3, 2018. Crunchyroll, Funimation, and other streaming services have confirmed that they will be airing the episodes in the simulcast/simuldub format.
Without getting into major spoilers, the story of Tokyo Ghoul Season 3 will focus on the new protagonist Haise Sasaki after the death of Kaneki. Sasaki is part of the Quinx Squad, or Qs Squad, who are normal humans who have undergone a surgical procedure where the quinque of a ghoul is implanted into their bodies.
Although these people are not ghouls themselves, they often suffer prejudice and discrimination from other investigators in the human CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul). Both the procedure and the newly formed Qs Squad are untested, so it’s unknown whether they will become heroes or monsters.

Sasaki will eventually earn the nickname of the Black Reaper by the ghouls, but the ghouls have their own plan to create a world where both humans and ghouls can live together peacefully. Will the One-Eyed King and his organization called Goat win the battle? Anime fans will just have to wait impatiently for the Tokyo Ghoul Season 3 release date to watch what happens next.
