‘SmackDown Live’ Tag Team Expected To Break Up At ‘Hell In A Cell’
The SmackDown Live tag team division is currently focused on the feud between The New Day and The Usos. On the other hand, Breezango are still busy with their Fashion Files segments while the remaining tag teams are lost in limbo. However, it seems like the WWE has started to create a story, with one popular tag team expected to break up at Hell in a Cell this Sunday.
Currently, SmackDown Live has eight tag teams, with The New Day as the champions. The Usos are the No. 1 contenders, with Breezango becoming more popular and ready for a title shot. Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin are gaining some steam, while The Colons are out due to injury, The Singh Brothers focused on helping Jinder Mahal, and The Ascension not going anywhere.
The Hype Bros are the only tag team with a real storyline but it is going to lead to a breakup. According to Cageside Seats, the WWE is planning to disband the team of Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley at Hell in a Cell. The Hype Bros are set to battle Gable and Benjamin in the Hell in a Cell Kickoff Show, as announced on the October 3 episode of SmackDown Live.
The WWE has been teasing the breakup of Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley in the past several weeks. Ryder stormed out after The Hype Bros lost to Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin on the September 12 episode of SmackDown Live. The frustration for Ryder started after they failed to earn a tag team title shot last June.
However, Rawley downplayed the incident with Ryder, and he believes that The Hype Bros are still future tag team champions. He told Dispatch (h/t Sportskeeda) in an interview that he is not worried about his partner and it was just a little frustration.
These losses, when they mount up, it is hard to keep your cool. You lose your focus and moments like that happen. I’m not making excuses for him, obviously I would have rather he had not done that, but at the same time it’s a little bit of frustration, it happens.”
But as recapped by WWE.com, The Hype Bros lost once again to The Usos after Mojo Rawley accidentally pushed Zack Ryder to the outside. The Usos took advantage as they hit a superkick and splash on Rawley for the win.
It should be noted that the potential breakup of The Hype Bros is purely speculative at the moment. However, the recent actions by Zack Ryder, the miscommunication by the team in their recent match, and the possibility of another loss at Hell in a Cell are classic signs of a tag team breakup.
