Demand A Plan To End Gun Violence: Celebrities Gather For Anti-Gun PSA [Video]
There has been a lot of talk about gun control in the wake of the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The NRA wants to put armed police officers in every school, hundreds of thousands of Americans have signed a petition asking the government to ban assault weapons, and now a group of celebrities are lending their voices to the conversation.
Beyonce Knowles, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Amy Poehler and several other celebrities release a video to demanding a plan to end gun violence.
The celebrities say in the video:
“How many more colleges, how many more classrooms, how many more movie theaters, how many more houses of faith, how many more shopping malls, how many more street quarters. Enough, demand a plan right now as a mom, as a dad, as a friend, as a husband, as a wife, as an American, as a human being. For the children of Sandy Hook, demand a plan.”
The video, which also includes Joel McHale, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Rock, was made for DemandaPlan.org, an organization that was started to urge congress to act on gun control.
The organization states: “Our efforts cannot bring back the 20 innocent children murdered in Newtown, CT — or the 34 people murdered with guns every day in America. But we can prevent future tragedies by passing common sense legislation that will: Require a criminal background check for every gun sold in America, ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and make gun trafficking a federal crime, including real penalties for “straw purchasers.”
