President Obama and the First Family flew down to Hawaii today for their Christmas vacation.
Obama didn’t say when he would return to Washington but since a deal to avert the fiscal cliff hasn’t been reached yet he’s likely to return shortly after the holiday. On Friday, Obama told reporters “I’ll see you next week.”
The Huffington Post reports that the President, First Lady Michelle, and daughters Sasha and Malia arrived at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu early this morning.
The president doesn’t have any publicly scheduled events during his Holiday trip but before he left the President and Michelle wished the country a Merry Christmas and a happy holiday.
Obama said:
“For my family and millions of Americans this is the time to celebrate the birth of Christ. To reflect on his life and learn from his example. Every year we commit to love one another, to give of ourselves, to be our brothers keeper, our sisters keeper. But those ideas are not just part of our faith. They’re part of all faith and unite us as American.”
Michelle added:
“In this country we take care of each other. In this season of giving it is inspiring to see people all across America helping those in need.”
