Kristen Stewart Psyched For Snow White And The Huntsman Sequel
Kristen Stewart may have recently lost Ben Affleck, but she’s absolutely psyched about reprising her titular role in Universal’s SnowWhite and The Huntsman sequel.
Confirming her participation in an Indiewire interview published yesterday, the actress said:
“Oh, it’s gonna be ****ing amazing. No, I’m so excited about it, it’s crazy!”
Asked to elaborate, the 22-year-old revealed:
“I’m not allowed. The other day I said that there was a strong possibility that we’re going to make a sequel, and that’s very true, but everyone was like, ‘Whoa, stop talking about it.’ So no, I’m totally not allowed to talk about it.”
Speculation about the future of Snow White and The Huntsman — a worldwide hit with $396,397,203 box office to its name — accelerated in the wake of Stewart’s admission of a tryst with Snow White director, Rupert Sanders.
The more molten aspects of that overly-documented episode aside, a premature report that Stewart had been dropped from the Snow White sequel came from the Hollywood Reporter in August.
Although Stewart’s departure was refuted by Universal’s co-chairman Donna Langley that same day, more troubling news surfaced when Snow White scriptwriter, David Koepp, told Movieline that he had left the sequel when it began to look like Stewart wouldn’t be returning.
On August 15, it was reported that Universal had bought a crime drama 90 Church: The True Story of the Narcotics Squad from Hell for Sanders. It was left unspoken that the buy was likely a trade off for Sanders leaving the Snow White sequel.
Whatever the politics, the state of play around this film has clearly moved on from the rancor of the summer. During promotion for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Stewart hinted that she was tentatively attached to a sequel, saying:
“Maybe … no one’s positive or anything, but I think there’s a strong possibility.”
Now that confirmation is unequivocal.
It’s not yet known who the director of the next chapter will be. At one point it was reported that a sequel would see Chris Hemsworth in a much larger role, and the Australian favorite subsequently said he would be open to returning.
As for Stewart, her feelings about the prospect of wielding a sword again were palpable when she answered a query about whether the plot arc for a sequel excited her. The actress said:
“Oh my God. ****, yeah. Absolutely. And we’ve got a really amazing… [smiles] So, yeah. It’s all good. [laughs].”
Snow White, reloaded, cometh.
