An Argentinian woman has decided to marry her twin sister’s killer, just two years after he murdered her sibling.
Edith Casas is set to wed Victor Cingolani tomorrow, on Friday 21 December, in the jail where he is serving 13 years for the murder of Johana Casas, her twin sister who was also a model.
Johana was killed just days before her 20th birthday in August 2010, after being being shot by Cingolani in the Argentinian city of Pico Truncado, which is located 1,200 miles south of Buenos Aires.
Edith’s family have called her decision, a ‘terrible betrayal’ and only two friends are prepared to act as witnesses for the ceremony. Several armed police officers will escort Cingolani from the jail, whilst Casas’ mother is now worried the man will take her other daughter’s life too.
“There are no words to describe what Edith is going to do. She’s guilty of a terrible betrayal,” stated Marcelina. However Edith has said, “Victor is not a violent person and I’m not mad. We’ve got no doubts about what we’re doing. We love each other.”
However, a second man, who was Johana’s boyfriend at the time of her death, is set to go on trial for her murder next year.
Marco Diaz was at the same party with Johana just hours before she died, and Cingolani’s defence lawyer insists, “The cigarette butts found near Johana’s body belonged to Diaz and all the witnesses have incriminated him”
Diaz then added, “I can understand Johana’s parents attitude. But Edith is not marrying a killer or anything like it. She is marrying a man who was convicted in a judicial scandal. All we want is justice.”
