Sandy Hook Principal’s Daughter Tweets Picture Of Her Baby And Obama
The daughter of slain Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochstrung has tweeted a photo of her baby daughter being held by President Barack Obama.
Obama visited Newtown, Connecticut on Sunday to meet the relatives of victims in Friday’s Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. While there, the president met one of Hochsprung’s two daughters, Cristina Hassinger, who let the Commander in Chief hold her young daughter, the granddaughter of Hochsprung.
Posting the photo of Obama and her baby to Twitter (see below), the daughter of the murdered Sandy Hook principal wrote:
“My Mom would be SO proud to see President Obama holding her granddaughter. But not as proud as I am of her.”
Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochstrung is being lauded as a hero in the massacre, which saw 26 people lose their lives at the hands of gunman Adam Lanza. Forty-seven-year-old Hochsprung died as she tried to prevent Lanza, 20, from entering the school building.
Speaking to CNN, her husband George Hochsprung said:
“Dawn put herself in jeopardy and I have been angry about that – angry – until just now, today, when I met the two women who she told to go under shelter while she confronted the gunman and she could have avoided that, but she didn’t and I knew she wouldn’t. I’m not angry anymore, I’m just very sad. Dawn ran out, and actually tried to subdue the killer. I don’t know where that comes from, Dawn was five-foot-two.”
Daughter Cristina struck a similarly defiant note as she tweeted about the brave actions of her mother, the Sandy Hook principal:
My mom, Dawn Hochsprung, was taken tragically from me. But she went down in a blaze of glory that truly represents who she was. #Newtown
