Shooting suspect Adam Lanza’s father put out a statement about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting this weekend and was joined by the family of his late mother. Both had a common theme — disbelief and shock at what caused shooting suspect Adam Lanza to kill 20 children and six adults before killing himself.
As Inquisitr reported, the shooting suspect’s father put out a statement Saturday night, breaking his silence and offering condolences to the victims of the Connecticut school shooting.
“Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy,” the shooting suspects’s father, Peter Lanza. in a statement. “No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can.”
The shooting suspect’s father was joined by the family of Nancy Lanza, who Adam killed before driving her car to Sandy Hook Elementary School. Like Peter Lanza’s statement, her family expressed sorrow for what happened and confusion as to why it happened, People reported.
The family wrote:
“The family of Nancy Lanza share the grief of a community and a nation as we struggle to comprehend the tremendous loss that we all share. Our hearts and prayers are with those who share in this loss. On behalf of Nancy’s mother and siblings we reach out to the community of Newtown and express our heartfelt sorrow for the incomprehensible and profound loss of innocence that has affected so many.”
Police said they may not have the answers that the shooting suspect’s father and the rest of the nation have about Adam Lanza’s motives. The Associated Press reported that police have found no diary or writings from Lanza about his motive for the shootings.
