Manny Pacquiao’s Wife Wants Him To Quit
Manny Pacquiao’s wife, Jinkee, wants him to quit boxing and retire. Considering his recent knock out, courtesy of a huge right-hand punch delivered by Juan Manuel Marquez last Saturday, it’s not surprising.
For the two minutes that her husband remained motionless on the boxing ring floor, Pacquiao’s wife was screaming and crying and reportedly had to be restrained, according to Fox Sports. Jinkee stated:
“It’s the first time I’ve seen him like that, lying on the canvas, and I was scared. I know he is still [capable] of fighting, but for me there is nothing to prove. He already has eight [title] belts. He can retire — stop — at any time. I want him to stop now.”
Manny Pacquiao has the ability to live a very comfortable life outside of boxing as well. He has made plenty of money in the sport and is also forging a career in a new arena — politics. Last Saturday’s fight was the fourth time Pacquiao and Marquez fought.
It may be tough for Pacquiao, a Filipino congressman, to quit, not only because he appears to love his boxing career, but also because he recently received a contract extension with promoter Top Rank in October. The contract extension lasts through the end of 2014, reports The Los Angeles Times.
Manny Pacquiano’s record currently stands at 54-5-2 with 38 knockouts. The boxer even stated after the fight last Saturday that he is interested in a rematch with Marquez. For Jinkee’s part, she understands that she cannot force her husband to quit. She added:
“He is the one who has the last say. Boxers risk their lives. [Some] end up in wheelchairs. I don’t want that to happen to Manny.”
Do you agree with Manny Pacquiao’s wife, who thinks the boxer should quit?
