L.A. Reid Leaving ‘The X Factor’
The game of musical chairs continues on The X Factor. L.A. Reid announced today that he will not be coming back to the reality show next season.
Reid, who in addition to his judging duties on The X Factor, also runs Epic Records, said:
“I have decided that I will not return to The X Factor next year … I have a company to run that I’ve kind of neglected.”
Reid said that he was saddened by his decision to leave the hit show, but only a little bit.
“It saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit. I love Simon. We have a great relationship. We have fun together, we talk, we laugh, we do bad things, we’re friends.”
The X Factor has seen a few major changes with its judges since its debut. Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were replaced last season by Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. Simon Cowell is now the only original judge remaining on the show.
Reid said that he may think about returning to the show in the future but he definitely wasn’t going to come back next year.
“I’m not ruling out ever coming back, but I’m definitely not coming back next year … Maybe I’ll revisit the idea a little later.”
Cowell, Lovato and Spears have not commented on Reid’s departure yet.
Who do you think should replace L.A. Reid on The X Factor? The soon to be former judge said that he wants to see Jon Bon Jovi take his seat.
