Fans are looking forward to seeing their favorite Longmire characters, even though the Netflix series is airing its final season. Season 6 episodes are set to be released sometime in 2017, but the exact date has not been announced.
Previous seasons of Longmire were released in the month of September, and it is assumed that Season 6 will premiere in that same month. However, according to CarterMatt, there’s evidence that Longmire Season 6 may be released much later than that.
The publication noted that Longmire Season 6 would probably return in October. This speculation is based on the Season 5 DVD release, which happens towards the end of September. The DVD version is expected to come out a couple of weeks before the release of a brand new season.
Whether or not this Longmire Season 6 release date prediction is true remains to be seen. If the series does go for a later premiere date, it will be an opportunity for the production to make sure the final season is the best it can be for the loyal audience.
Netflix has yet to make a formal announcement on the release date of Longmire Season 6. Other Netflix series, like BoJack Horseman Season 4 and Fuller House Season 3, have been confirmed to return with brand new episodes in September. It is likely that an announcement for Longmire is just around the corner.
Meanwhile, Longmire updates have been rampant on social media; the latest of which is an official first look at Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire. The image posted via Longmire Posse, the official fan page of the series, showed Walt under a clear blue sky with bodies all over the ground.

Cast members have also been regularly updating on the status of Longmire Season 6’s production. S everal actors, including Lou Diamond Phillips and Cassidy Freeman, have already confirmed their last day on the set. A Martinez, who plays Jacob Nighthorse, on the other hand, recently shared a photo of the last sequence shot featuring Walt and Vic (Katee Sackhoff).
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, fans have come up with their own theory on Walt and Vic’s relationship and what will happen to them in the final season. Viewers speculate that Walt and Vic won’t get to have the happy ending that most people expect them to have. The photo shows Walt with a longing look as Vic appears to be leaving the sheriff’s office. Martinez’s caption, which included the hashtag #TheYearning, fueled the speculation further.
