California Teen Wins Lottery Twice In One Week
Most people only dream of winning the lottery, but for one California teen, that dream became a reality, not once, but twice in one week.
According to the California Lottery’s official website, 19-year-old Rosa Dominguez recently won a whopping $655,555 after purchasing two different scratch-off tickets. Rosa’s good luck first took off in early June when she stopped at a gas station, Eagle Energy, in Paso Robles and got herself a $5 Power 5’s ticket. Rosa scratched off the ticket and realized she had won the grand prize of $555,555.
“I was so nervous I just wanted to cry,” she said.
A few days later, Rosa decided to stop at another gas station, a local Valero, to try her luck on a different scratch-off ticket. She purchased a single $5 Lucky Fortune Scratcher, scratched it off, and quickly discovered she had won another $100,000, which brought her total to $655,555. Dominguez visited the California Lottery’s East Bay District Office in Hayward to claim her prizes.
According to the California Lottery’s description, the Power 5’s tickets allows players the chance to multiply their prizes by five or 10 times. It also has five Power Spots worth $25 each. The odds of winning one of the 24 grand prizes, valued at $555,555, are one in 1,510,543. As of today, 21 of the prizes have been claimed, meaning there are three grand prizes that are still up for grabs. There are also smaller prizes available, ranging from free tickets to $5,000. The Lucky Fortune tickets provide nine separate games to play with a chance to multiply your prize up to 10 times. The game is also full of $50 instant winners. The odds of winning the grand prize are one in 1,203,275. So far, 11 of the 15 grand prizes have been claimed.

Rosa wasn’t the only Californian to win it big. Damaris Vazquez and her father Jesus won $1,000,000. The pair have been playing the lottery together for two years, and have made it a tradition to walk to the store to purchase tickets every Sunday. On one particular Sunday in November, they purchased a $10 50X the Money ticket and were shocked when they saw that they were instant millionaires.
“Disbelief…thought it was a fake ticket. But we felt happiness as well!” Damaris said at the time.
