Madison Beer Controversy: Singer Faces Backlash After Allegation She Embellished Claims Against Jack Gilinsky

Madison Beer is coming under fire this weekend after a new video claims the singer and social media star is embellishing claims of abuse against former boyfriend Jack Gilinsky.

Jack Johnson, the singing partner and longtime friend of Gilinsky, posted a video that called out Madison Beer for a statement she made that framed her as a victim in the relationship with Jack Gilinsky. In the video, Johnson claimed that Gilinsky and Beer have been broken up for a few weeks when an audio tape leaked that showed Gilinsky verbally abusing Beer, calling her a series of expletives.

The controversy surrounding Madison Beer sparked last week when an audio tape surfaced that showed Jack Gilinsky calling her a series of offensive names, including a “f***ing s**t.” Jack Gilinsky wrote his a note apologizing, saying that the clip came from last year and that he was “in a very dark place, & clearly had no control over my emotions.”

Beer then posted her own response to the audio clip in a series of tweets, saying that she hopes fans can use the clip as inspiration to stand up for themselves.

Though the tweets were later deleted, the New York Daily News printed her remarks.

“My theory was, and as horrible as this is, is that if I left him, he’d do it to the next girl. I tried to fix him. We have both grown and chanced so much at this point and it has been an extremely difficult thing to relive/even go [through] what you have all heard in the first place and I hope ALL of my fans learn from my foolishness.”

Beer went on to say she was “blinded by love and much too afraid to come out and say anything” for fear that it might ruin her relationship. She warned fans not to make the same mistakes that she did.

“Don’t make the same mistakes I did, your safety is never worth it,” she wrote. “No matter what, no one deserves to be treated that way. You deserve the world and respect from EVERYONE and ANYONE.”

It was those remarks that apparently set off Jack Johnson, who posted a video claiming that the “toxic relationship” between Beer and Gilinsky was mutual and that both shared their faults. He also claimed that Beer was behind the “hacked account” that first released the audio tape of Gilinski’s verbal tirade against her.

The video sparked a major backlash against Madison Beer, with the term #madisonbeerisoverparty trending on Twitter and many fans calling her out for allegedly embellishing to make herself look like a victim. For her part, Beer had not yet responded to Johnson’s video or his claims.
