‘American Idol’ Now Promoting Mariah Carey And Nicki Minaj Feud
In a move that’s sure to surprise no one at all, American Idol has decided to create hype over the upcoming season by promoting the feud between judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj. The feud between the two heavyweights will probably prove to be ratings gold for the show, which is in its eleventh season.
Idol producers are focusing on the feud that created a stir on the internet so much so that the powers that be have decided to create a whole promo commercial around the incident. During the promo for the new season, the commercial flashes “Diva Decide,” which makes the two ladies appear as though they’re in a boxing death match with the words “Mariah Carey VS Nicki Minaj” below their faces. The promo goes on to show additional arguments that show Carey pointing her finger at Minaj, while the hip hop star sneers and makes whacky faces at the songstress.
The huge feud in question happened over preliminary audition rounds and hit the internet merely moments after the fight broke out between Carey and Minaj. During the fight, Minaj appeared to be sick of Carey’s diva ways and threatened to physically harm her if she had to put up with her antics. Carey, who looked annoyed by Minaj’s behavior, sat there and argued with Minaj without making eye-contact.
Although American Idol is probably in need of a ratings boost, it seems in bad taste to pit women against each other, especially when those women are both accomplished in the industry. Do you think the video of the initial fight should have been leaked? Is it better to see a judge’s true colors, or do you think this might take away from the undiscovered talent waiting to be found on American Idol?
