Patton Oswalt Dating Meredith Salenger Following Wife’s Untimely Death

It has been 14 months since the unexpected death of Michelle McNamara, the wife of comedian Patton Oswalt. However after a time filled with grief, Oswalt has found his smile again thanks to his new girlfriend, 47-year-old actress Meredith Salenger.

Oswalt, 48, who had been on a self-imposed social media break since May 31, was seen at the premiere of the film Baby Driver on Wednesday, June 15, with Salenger on his arm and with huge smiles on both of their faces. He then quickly retweeted her selfie of them happily together in the theater.

It was told to People that they had been introduced by mutual friend Martha Plimpton.

“They started chatting as friends and it blossomed from there,” said the insider to People.

Salenger has been very public about her affection for Oswalt as she posted a photo of their linked hands to Instagram where she wrote “I’m super in love guys. Just FYI.”

Oswalt had been candid about his grief following the unexpected passing of his 46-year-old wife, who died in her sleep. Her death was triggered by a previously unnoticed heart condition that caused blockages in her arteries and a lethal combination of prescription drugs, including Adderall, Xanax and the pain medication fentanyl, as he wrote in a statement he sent to the AP last February. They had been married since September 25, 2005.

Oswalt struggled with his grief of having to go on without his beloved wife in addition to learning how to be a single father to 8-year-old daughter, Alice. In 2016, he published a piece in GQ in which he shared his pain, anger, frustration and process of moving on, but specifically focused on being a good dad and some of the things he needed to learn during this process. On the anniversary of her death on April 21, he expressed his thoughts of love and hope, as he described removing his wedding ring, and he had an optimistic take on the path forward on his Facebook page.

Oswalt is best known for his roles in King of Queens, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The United States of Tara, as well as his 2016 Grammy Award-winning Best Comedy Album, Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping, and voicing Remy in the Disney-Pixar hit Ratatouille. Salenger is an actor who got her start in films such as The Journey of Natty Gann and Dream a Little Dream, and has been seen recently in Hollywood Heights, as well as serving as a voice actor in many projects including Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, and Lily James will be released in theaters on June 28.
