Warner Bros Seeks 5 Teen Actors To Star In ‘Fantastic Beasts 2’
Big news for fans of J.K. Rowling’s “Wizarding Wolrd” – if you’re located in the U.K and under the age of 18 then this is your chance to star in the next installment of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series. On June 6, 2017 an article about an open casting call was published on Pottermore, the official news site for all things Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts related.
As stated in the article, open casting calls for new and talented teen actors is sort of a tradition in the Wizarding World – after all that’s how the trio (Daniel Radcliff, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson) were cast, as well as Evanna Lynch who played the lovable Loony Luna Lovegood. This series will be no different as Warner Bros is searching for five teens to star in the upcoming Fanastic Beasts and Where o Find Them 2.
The prequel series started out following magizoologist Newt Scamander on his journey to New York. Set in the 1920’s you can see some big differences between Fantastic Beasts and the original Harry Potter series that it spun off of. Along with the help of sister witches Tina and Queenie and the lovable muggle (or should it be no-maj?) Jacob, they have to round up Newt’s escaped beasts all over NYC.
By the end of the movie they have officially introduced Johnny Depp playing Grindlewald, in a way that only makes fans of the original series more and more excited for things to come in future movies. With the announcement of Jude Law being chosen to play the young adult version of Dumbledore, this casting call should only bring fans even more excitement (even if you’re too old to apply or geographically challenged when it comes to this open casting call).
If you live in the U.K. and are between the ages of 13-16 then you might just get lucky enough to be cast as the teenage incarnations of Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange (who was only mentioned in the first Fantasic Beasts movie), or a character named Sebastian. If you’re a guy in the U.K. age 16-18 then you could have the opportunity to portray teenage Dumbledore or Grindlewald. In order to apply to play one of these characters all you need is a recent (within the last two months) head shot, date of birth, contact information and parental permission (if under 18), which you can send to casting.prod@wb.uc-ns.com.
Just so you know, you’ve only got until June 20 to get your head shot and information in if you are hoping for the part!
With casting still going on for the second installment of the Fantastic Beasts series it is expected that he actual filming will begin this fall between August and November. This will give them roughly a year in order to get the filming done and editing up to snuff before the November 16, 2018 release date that fans are already eagerly counting down to (it’s never too soon, right?).
