Trump Name Bleeped Out On TV Show ‘Broad City’: ‘No Airtime For This Orange Person’
Donald Trump is getting no love from the TV show Broad City on Comedy Central. In fact, the POTUS is so reviled by the show’s producers and creators that they’ve opted to have his name bleeped out – for the entire season. That’s right. In the Broad City universe, the word “Trump” is as offensive as any FCC-censored curse word in the show’s upcoming season.
As Fox News reports, Broad City is produced by comedy queen and SNL-alum Amy Poehler. And the outspoken liberal Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter has apparently taken her distaste for Donald Trump to a whole new level, ensuring that his name is bleeped every single time it’s uttered on the upcoming season of the show. Broad City star and co-creator Iliana Glazer said during a recent interview that she’s not about to give any airtime to America’s current “orange” presidential person.
“There’s no airtime for this orange [person]. We bleep his name the whole season.”
According to Glazer, the entire upcoming season of Broad City(Season 4, if you’re counting) had to be extensively rewritten following the unexpected results of the 2016 presidential election. It was initially written with the expectation of a President Hillary Clinton. When Trump managed to eke out an electoral college win, the script had to be changed. And his name had to be bleeped. Over and over again.

Glazer claims that having Trump, i.e. a “game-show host,” for POTUS necessitated extensive changes to the script and story line of Season 4 of Broad City.
“We wrote [season four] being like, ‘Here we go! Hillary for president!’ [But after] this game-show host became president of our country, we rewrote a lot.”

As Entertainment Weekly reports, Broad City’s premiere date has been delayed for Season 4. The first three seasons of the show kicked off over the winter, but Season 4 (complete with Trump being perpetually bleeped) won’t air until August 2017. Officially, the reason for the delay is the fact that the show’s stars have become much busier and more in demand since the show began. However, if an entire season had to be rewritten to ensure that Donald Trump is addressed and his name bleeped, it stands to reason that changes in the script could have contributed to the delay.

Comedy Central has further confirmed that the name “Donald Trump” will be bleeped out for the entirety of Broad City Season 4.
