Bill Goldberg Teases Return To The Ring, Interested In Matches With Braun Strowman And Roman Reigns
At Wrestlemania 33, Bill Goldberg was defeated by Brock Lesnar and lost the WWE Universal Championship. It is expected that match will serve as the last of his career. WWE fans haven’t praised the match over the past few months. However, there is no doubt that it will serve as a much better swan song than the match Lesnar and Goldberg had at Wrestlemania 20 many years ago. Most people believe he should never wrestle again.
WWE officials are extremely happy with Goldberg’s comeback run over the past year. He became one of the most bankable superstars in the company. A lot of people don’t appreciate him winning the WWE Universal Title only a month before the grandest stage of them all, but few fans would have an issue with Bill Goldberg having more matches with WWE.
Recently, Goldberg had the following to say about his future in wrestling.
“There’s so much young talent there that have the possibility of being the next superstar. Obviously, the guy with the big push now is Braun Strowman, but unfortunately, he is hurt. Great kid and a great work ethic, obviously great character. I would be remiss that stepping in the ring with Roman Reigns wouldn’t be fun. There are a lot of guys of being worthy to be getting their ass kicked by me.”
There are several dream matches the WWE Universe would still like to see from Goldberg. The door is open for some of those matches to become a reality. However, there are a few matchups that will take precedent if Goldberg wrestles again. For instance, Goldberg taking on Braun Strowman or Roman Reigns are two of the most likely matches to happen on the list of potential opponents for the former WWE Universal Champion.
On paper, Bill Goldberg vs. Braun Strowman is a perfect scenario. Braun Strowman has been dominant on WWE programming since the WWE Draft brought him to Raw. Over the last year, he has become a top heel for the company. Strowman is bound for a Universal Title match with Brock Lesnar sooner rather than later, but WWE officials building to a match with Goldberg could bring him to a much higher level as a performer.
A Goldberg vs. Reigns match is one WWE officials would likely build it as a Battle of the Spears. There is a lot of money in a match between Goldberg and Reigns, especially after Roman’s win over The Undertaker on the grandest stage of them all this year in Orlando. Their matchup is the most likely to actually happen. However, the big issue is the WWE Universe choosing to support Goldberg over Reigns.
The WWE Universe became unhappy with Goldberg as the WWE Universal Champion because they felt his push was taking away from other performers. As glad as the fans were to have Goldberg back inside a WWE ring, they felt he should have been used to get others over rather than being pushed as the top guy on Raw.
After Wrestlemania, Goldberg’s wrestling career is up in the air. On paper, he could end his career on a high note. The possibility for matches with Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns are big money opportunities. He took a 12-year break between his last two matches with WWE. It won’t take 12 years for the fans to learn about his future with the company. The WWE Universe will continue to speculate about his future, but the possibilities of what could happen over the next year will be enough to keep fans interested about what could happen to Bill Goldberg next.
