Man Falls From Upper Deck In Oakland, Is In Serious Condition
A man who fell from an upper deck in Oakland last night is currently in critical condition after surviving the plunge during a football game, but an initial report indicated he may have jumped.
The man who fell from the upper deck during last night’s game was not identified in reports about the incident, which occurred at an Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos event at Oakland Coliseum.
Local news source the Oakland Tribune initially reported that the victim was believed to have leapt from the seating area, citing reports that the incident was a jump and not a fall:
“An Oakland Raiders game took a tragic turn Thursday night when a man apparently jumped from the third deck at the Oakland Coliseum, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office said … The man’s identity was not released, although he was taken by ambulance to a hospital, said Alameda County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson. Oakland police said the man was listed in serious condition late Thursday.”
The man fell from the upper deck just before the Raiders faced off against the Broncos at 5:30 pm Pacific time yesterday, and, after the incident was reported, the team released a statement confirming the fall, saying:
“While we do not yet have any information beyond that which has been publicly reported, our thoughts and prayers are with this gentleman and his family and friends.”
As of the most recent reports after the man fell from the upper deck, his condition remains serious and he remains hospitalized after the incident.
