Martha Stewart Caught Salmonella From Thanksgiving Turkeys
Martha Stewart caught salmonella last month after she handled a few too many Thanksgiving turkeys.
Chatting to the NY Post‘s Page Six blog while shopping for art at Art Basel Miami, the business magnate and television personality said:
“I never get sick, but I came down with salmonella. I think I caught it because I was handling so many turkeys around Thanksgiving. I was on the Today show, I did a number of other [Thanksgiving] appearances. It really hit me hard and I was in bed for days. It was terrible.”
Martha Stewart’s salmonella may have kept her under the sheets and forced her to cancel a number of appearances and meetings, but there was one perk:
“I lost some weight, though.”
The 71-year-old businesswoman was perusing paintings at Lehmann Maupin gallery’s booth when she spoke to Page Six, though reportedly didn’t buy any art.
Martha Stewart has had a varied 2012. The year began badly when The Martha Stewart Show was cancelled due to its falling ratings. Just weeks later, the TV star found herself facing a legal battle with department store chain Macy’s.
But 2012 may end well for the domestic goddess (salmonella aside). She’s currently producing a new sitcom for Fox while she and Macy’s have since kissed and made up. Stewart appears in the company’s Christmas campaign.
