‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season 5: ‘OITNB’ 2017 Release Date, Cast, Trailer, And Everything You Need To Know
Orange Is the New Black has become a staple of Netflix’s June catalog over the course of the past few years, with the prison comedy-drama set to return to the streaming service for its fifth season this week. The season is expected to be the show’s biggest yet, but what do we know about Orange Is the New Black Season 5?
When will Orange Is the New Black Season 5 be released?
According to the Daily Mirror, we’re now just days away from the release of Orange Is the New Black Season 5. Netflix typically releases new episodes of the show each June, and it fully intends to continue that trend this year, with every episode of Orange Is the New Black Season 5 set to hit the streaming service on June 9.
Much like other seasons before it, Season 5 of Orange Is the New Black will consist of 13 episodes. With that in mind, the show’s biggest fans will be able to binge watch the entire fifth season over the course of the coming weekend. That said, only last week, Netflix released the entire fifth season of House of Cards Season 5, leaving its viewers with plenty to watch this summer.

Is there a trailer for Orange Is the New Black Season 5?
The fifth season of Orange Is the New Black will arrive on Netflix this Friday, however, fans can already catch their first glimpse of the upcoming season. According to Digital Spy, back in April, the streaming provider released the first trailer for the upcoming season of the prison drama. The trailer picks up following the explosive events of the show’s Season 4 finale in which the inmates of Litchfield decide to rebel following Poussey’s death.
Litchfield descended into chaos as they marched through the hallways, eventually converging on Judy King being escorted out of prison. CO Humphrey ended up being pushed over into the action, with Daya picking up his gun as she’s urged to pull the trigger by the other inmates.

What will Orange Is the New Black Season 5 be about?
The fifth season of Orange Is the New Black will pick up directly following the events of that explosive Season 4 finale. With the inmates now languishing control over the prison, the show’s fifth season will take place over the course of just three days as the riot continues to unfold and the characters’ lives are changed forever.
“It will be very detailed, very intense. You better get ready, get your popcorn, your tissues,” said Danielle Brooks, who plays Taystee on the hit show.
The aforementioned first look trailer, which has already been released by Netflix, suggests that Daya will pull the trigger and shoot CO Humphrey. If that’s the case, life will never be the same again for the inmates of Litchfield as the prison looks set to descend into absolute chaos.

According to Variety, in late April, the first 10 episodes of Season 5 were reportedly shared online by an anonymous hacker after Netflix refused to respond to the cybercriminal’s ransom demands. That said, the streaming provider has largely managed to contain any leaks as a result of the hack, with most fans able to avoid spoilers online.
“We are aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved,” Netflix said responding to the hack.
Orange Is the New Black returns to Netflix for its fifth season on June 9.
