Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton shocked the country music world when they announced their divorce in 2015. The 33-year-old songstress and 40-year-old country charmer seemed like a perfect couple, which left many fans wondering what went wrong in their marriage.
During an interview with Cody Alan of CMT After Midnight , Miranda revealed the two most important passions in her life – which are dogs and music. The award-winning singer claimed that she needs a partner who would share her interests or else the relationship wouldn’t work. Luckily, her boyfriend Anderson East bonded with her over the same thing.
“Obviously meeting someone it’s like, ‘Hey, would you like to meet my seven rescue dogs?’ It’s not normal,” Lambert said. “So, anybody that’s friends with me knows they have to love my dogs, or they’re not friends with me anymore. It’s been fun to watch [Anderson] fall in love with rescue dogs more because they pretty much run my life.”
When Miranda Lambert was still married to Blake Shelton, the two used to share many dogs but her ex-husband isn’t keen on having more which probably was one of the factors that they got divorced. During an interview with People back in 2014, the “Vice” hitmaker revealed that The Voice coach texted her “No” which means that she can’t adopt the puppy at the Pedigree Adoption Suite at Nashville’s Music City Center.
Lambert confessed that she has seven dogs, but she has found ways to make her furry friends less burdensome on Shelton. Her first pup lives with her grandmother half the time. While two of them live on the farm, which she claims was their haven. Miranda revealed that she takes care of their remaining canine friends at home.
“I have four that are in our house most of the time. But I looked at Blake one day and realized if I don’t give him a break from these dogs, he might go crazy. I want to keep them all, but I need Blake to be good with that too, so I built them their own house outside of ours,” she said.
Despite what Miranda did to accommodate both Blake and her furry friends, their marriage didn’t last long. An insider told Us that the Texan singer will keep most of the dogs that belonged to her after their split. Apart from canines, she also has a flock of chickens, two potbellied pigs, three mini-horses, three horses, and three cats.
“Every animal has a special place in my heart. Especially my dogs—some of them go everywhere with me,” she gushed. “They are like my kids, with their own unique personalities.”
While Lambert treats her pets like her kids, Shelton may have wanted real kids. The two released a statement that they have ended their marriage: “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues.”
According to Page Six , Blake Shelton is eager to have babies , but Miranda Lambert prefers not being tied down. A source thinks that they were off on what the time frame would be. The two were reportedly never together and he wanted them to get closer. However, she allegedly loves her career and the freedom to perform and go on tour. After their divorce, Shelton moved on to Gwen Stefani, and he reportedly enjoyed hanging out with her three sons from her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale.
Miranda’s priorities must have changed after her divorce from Blake. An insider told E! that Lambert wants to get married again and have children soon. This has reportedly been an open conversation between her and her boyfriend East, and they want the same thing.
“Miranda is very happy with Anderson. They have gotten very close. Her friends think this is the guy for her,” their source added.
