It’s always interesting to see our favorite stars in a role that goes completely against type, to break away from what they’re best known for and take a chance with something new and different.
Such is the case with Outlander star Sam Heughan. The Scottish actor, who is best known for his role as a swashbuckling Highlander warrior, is going to work his chops in a new comedic movie that’s a takeoff of the James Bond franchise, according to a new report.
Variety is reporting that Outlander star Sam Heughan is merely “in talks” for the lead role right now, but he’s considered a serious contender for a starring role in The Spy Who Dumped Me . If Heughan gets the part, he will star opposite Mila Kunis and Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon (who does a hilarious send-up of Attorney General Jeff Sessions).
“Should the deal go through, it would be first role for Heughan in a major Hollywood feature. The Scottish thespian was the first actor cast for the Starz time-travel series ‘Outlander,’ which centers on a married World War II nurse who finds herself transported back to the Scotland of 1743, where she encounters the warrior Jamie Fraser, portrayed by Heughan. ‘Outlander’ has aired for two seasons and been renewed for two more.”

Even if Outlander star Sam Heughan doesn’t get the part, however, he’ll still be loved by fans.
As fans of Outlander are aware, yesterday was #WorldOutlanderDay , and in honor of that day, Gold Derby asked fans to put together their list of favorite episodes of the hit Starz show.
The results, of course, were not surprising: The episode “Faith,” which discusses the loss of Jamie and Claire’s first child, came in second place, but the No. 1 episode according to fans was “The Wedding.”
“Claire and Jamie got married to protect her from Black Jack, but to make their marriage legal they must consummate their marriage. It’s no surprising then that this landmark moment of their love story is our readers’ favorite episode. Love all the episodes from ‘Outlander’ season 1, but ‘The Wedding’ was just perfect; it beat the book.”

Perhaps fans of the show will find a new favorite episode in Season 3, which is due to air this fall.
According to Radio Times , while Outlander star Sam Heughan will be back on the small screen as Jamie and Caitriona Balfe will be back as Claire, the question still remains as to how Frank (Tobias Menzies) will be portrayed.
The outlet spoke to Diana Gabaldon , and she mentioned that she deliberately left the question of Frank’s fidelity to Claire open-ended. She also said the first six episodes of the new season are very close to the book and that many of the things that Claire told Brianna (Sophie Skelton) in flashback will be played out and fleshed out on the small screen.
“As we continue to wait for Outlander season three (why do we have to hold out until September? WHY?) author Diana Gabaldon has been dropping hints about what to expect when Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) return to our TV screens. ‘I do think that season three is going to be remarkably strong. I’ve seen the first nine episodes now put together and they’re fabulous, the first six especially are very close to the book,’ the author tells RadioTimes.com.”
