Think Angelina Jolie Looked Sick In 2017? She Is Reportedly ‘Healthy Again’ After Experimental Treatment
Angelina Jolie is said to be finally showing signs of recovery. The health of the Hollywood veteran came into question during her highly publicized divorce from husband Brad Pitt.
The 41-year-old actress, who appeared very skinny after losing about 76 pounds, is reportedly now gaining weight and looking healthy after undergoing experimental medical treatments in Europe.
The Tomb Raider actress is said to be responding well to the procedure, which is called a “live cell replacement treatment,” Radar Online reported.
Angelina Jolie reportedly spent a small fortune on the treatment program, which allegedly costs around $5,000 per injection. She is said to be receiving treatment secretly in a European clinic, but the name of the hospital and the country where she is receiving treatment is still unknown.
According to Dr. Stuart Fischer, a New York internist, live cell replacement therapy works by having live, healthy cells injected into a patient.
“This results in the regeneration of the patient’s own cells and the stimulation of the immune system,” he explained.
Dr. Fischer noted that the treatment appears to be working well for the actress.
“The cell replacement surgery combined with what seems to be an intensely supervised diet and exercise program seems to have made her healthy once again,” he noted. “She seems to have had significant weigh gain and looks healthier than she had in a month!”
Angelina Jolie’s health initially made headlines in 2013 when she announced her decision to undergo a preventive double mastectomy and have her ovaries removed.
In an article published in the New York Times, Jolie said she made the decision because she has a high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. The Maleficent actress has a mutation in her BRCA1 gene, which increases her risk of getting breast and ovarian cancers. The BRCA1 gene mutations can be inherited; Angelina Jolie’s mother and aunt were both victims of breast cancer. Doctors estimated that she had an 87 percent risk of developing breast cancer and a 50 percent chance of ovarian cancer.
The health of the mother of six also made headlines last year following news that she had filed for divorce from 53-year-old Brad Pitt. The divorce announcement came just two years after the couple, who had been together for about 12 years, got married.
Although the family asked for their privacy to be respected, reports that the divorce proceedings had a terrible effect on Jolie’s health made the news. There were rumors that Angelina Jolie became so sick that she stopped eating and was being fed through tubes.
“She thought the entire world was against her and was on a self-destructive path that would have killed her had she not sought help,” Radar Online reported.
Angelina Jolie discussed the difficulty of her divorce from Brad Pitt in a recent interview with the BBC. However, she said her main focus through the entire divorce process was her children. Jolie reportedly won full custody over the couple’s six children when the divorce procedures were finalized early this year.
Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband Brad Pitt has since admitted to drinking heavily and is blaming herself for their split. The actor talked about how he used alcohol as a crutch and his journey to getting better during a recent interview.
“I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff or something,” Pitt told GQ Style magazine. “I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know – things I wasn’t dealing with. I was boozing too much. It’s just become a problem.”
These days, Pitt, who is currently in therapy, has reportedly stopped drinking and is getting better. Meanwhile, with this treatment, Angelina Jolie could bid farewell to some of her health issues.
