Taran Nolan: ‘Home Improvement’ Star Convicted For DUI


Los Angeles, CA – Home Improvement star Taran Nolan Smith was convicted on DUI and hash possession charges. The former child star plead guilty to drug possession. Smith entered a no contest plea on the driving while under the influence of marijuana charge, Zap2It reports.

The former television star avoided jail time by agreeing to attend a 12-hour program for the DUI and a 6-month diversion program for the marijuana charge. Smith was arrested after law enforcement officers spotted his 1998 silver Honda Accord parked in front of a fire hydrant. The police officers reportedly caught a whiff of a strong order coming from inside the car and ultimately placed Taran Smith in handcuffs.

Smith will reportedly be on probation for three years and is due back for another court appearance in June. The 28-year-old actor gained national notoriety when playing Mark, the youngest son of Tim Allen during the popular 90s television show. He landed the role on Home Improvement when he was 7 years old. The show ran from 1991 to 1999.

During a 2011 Home Improvement reunion interview Taran had this to say to Entertainment Weekly:

“It was pretty exciting to leave it behind and do other things.

The former Home Improvement star also noted during the interview that, once the television sitcom was over, he “fled” Hollywood and never looked back. His first endeavor after leaving acting behind was starting a food company for vegans. Taran then went on to become an installation artist and showed his work at Coachella. He then went on to help his father build energy-efficient water purifiers that are currently utilized overseas by the military.
