‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: New Comic Book Cover Leads To Major Death Speculation
The Walking Dead’s latest comic book cover may hint at a big death that will be played out on the show over the course of the next couple of seasons. Fans of the franchise are freaking out about the possibility of one of the biggest characters losing their life.
Warning: Major Walking Dead spoilers below.
According to ComicBook.com, the latest comic book art for issue No. 170 shows the characters of Michonne, Eugene, Siddiq, and Magna walking down an abandoned road together. The issue is titled “On The Road.” These characters are the ones who have been wanting to leave Alexandria, but seeing them without Rick and/or Carl is raising some big suspicions among Walking Dead fans. One rumor circulating claims that Rick may not be on the cover of the issue because he’s dead and gone.
In a previous issue, Rick’s comic book girlfriend, Andrea, was bitten by a walker and killed. Rick then seemed to want to give up and join his lost love despite all that he has been through to lead his group and survive. If Rick is dead in the upcoming issue, it will be a huge shock to fans, who fully expect Rick to live until the end of the series, or at least close to the end.

According to Hall of Fame, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has promised that Rick Grimes will die “eventually,” but for now he seems to be the driving force behind the comic book and the television series. However, killing Rick off wouldn’t be all that unexpected. There are certainly plenty of people who would like to see Rick dead. Add that to the natural dangers he deals with each day, such as zombies, Rick’s life is seemingly always in danger in at least one capacity.
If Rick Grimes does make it past The Walking Dead issue No. 170, fans will be looking at Rick leading a very rough life. Rick has lost Andrea, not to mention his group is in tatters. The Hilltop has burned down, and there are survivors of the war with the Whisperers as well as the Saviors to deal with. This means there are plenty of threats against Rick’s life, and they could end up playing out on the Walking Dead television series in Season 8 or beyond.
Meanwhile, fans of the TV show are looking forward to Season 8 airing this fall on AMC. The series left off with Rick’s Alexandria group and the people of the Hilltop and the Kingdom joining forces for an attack on Negan and the Saviors. The good guys won that battle, but Negan went home to the Sanctuary to rally his group, the Saviors, and prepare them for an all-out war. This is likely the major storyline that Rick and company will be facing when Season 8 begins later this year.

In addition, Walking Dead fans can look forward to updates on Maggie’s pregnancy, her role as the Hilltop leader, and Rick’s relationship with his on-screen love Michonne, who could be at risk of taking over Andrea’s comic book death in the near future.
While Rick’s death on The Walking Dead seems to be coming at some point, actor Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes on the television series, has his own idea of how Rick’s story should end. Lincoln previously told fans that he wants Rick to jump off a moving vehicle in order to perform a last heroic act and get bitten by a zombie in the process. Andrew says that Rick would still fight despite his bite. Later, out on his own, tending to his wounds, he waits to die, but death never comes. Instead, Rick realizes that he may be the cure to the deadly virus.
