Fear The Walking Dead Season 3 premieres on June 4. While the previous seasons were a bit slow-paced, don’t expect the upcoming episodes to be the same way. There is going to be a lot of action, as well as some surprises. Recently, executive producer Dave Erickson teased what fans can expect. The militia group will be explained, and the showrunner hinted Victor Strand’s (Colman Domingo) newest con. He also said that the goal was to not give the characters or viewers the chance to breathe; implying there will be constant action and gore.
FTWD spoilers are ahead. Do not continue reading unless you want to know what to expect on the AMC series.
In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly , Dave Erickson talked about the militia group that will terrorize the main characters. He teased that the group anticipated the fall of democracy. However, they had no idea that the dead would walk the Earth. The leader, Jeremiah Otto, Sr. (Dayton Callie) is the “king of his domain.” His goal is to “create a new nation in his own mold.”
The only good news regarding where the characters find themselves in the Season 3 premiere is that two people are reunited. Madison (Kim Dickens) and her son, Nick (Frank Dillane) will see each other after a long separation.
As for Victor Strand in Fear The Walking Dead , the showrunner teased he will revert back to his old ways. Before the zombie apocalypse, Strand was a con artist and was exceptionally good at it. Still in Mexico, he will use this skill to help himself in Season 3.
“We’re going to see Strand going back in the con-man mode. The thing that he’s best at is recognizing the current currency and knowing what he can exploit. In the apocalypse, he’s going to target the thing that is probably the most powerful and valuable resource there is.”
There are few things that are valuable in the apocalyptic world. Weapons, ammunition, food, medicine, and shelter are some of those resources. When the world has fallen, money has no value anymore. Goods and staying alive are what is important to the remaining survivors in FTWD . Which resource will he use and what will he look for in exchange?
In Season 2, Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades) appeared to have torched himself, along with the compound. It was assumed that he died in Fear The Walking Dead until the showrunner announced he was still alive, out there somewhere. Now, fans should prepare themselves for his return. The showrunner wouldn’t say when Salazar will be seen. However, it will be sometime during Season 3.
“We’ve said publicly that he didn’t die in the fire. And I think what was always important is that the characters, especially Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), thought they had lost him. I think his return is long overdue, and I can promise that Daniel Salazar will rise again over the course of the season.”
As for Travis Manawa, he will be a changed man. Last season, he tried to survive the apocalypse while holding onto his moral compass. However, it didn’t help him navigate the new world safely. It also didn’t help him protect his family or save his son from death. Actor Cliff Curtis spoke about his character to TV Guide .
“It’s been a long and very restrained journey for Travis to finally come to terms with his own morality and to put that aside and get on with the killing.”
Curtis added that as a group, they are “more attuned to the apocalypse.” Now, they are prepared to take action.
What do you think of what Dave Erickson and Cliff Curtis revealed about Fear The Walking Dead Season 3? Are you looking forward to seeing Daniel Salazar return? What do you predict will happen with the characters when FTWD returns to AMC on June 4?
