Tragic Death In ‘Bachelor’ Nation — Michael Nance Found Dead At 31

Bachelor Nation is in mourning today after learning that Bachelorette contestant Michael Nance died at the age of 31 on Monday. According to E! News, the former reality TV hopeful was found unresponsive in the early hours of Memorial Day. He was pronounced dead at 2:54 a.m.

According to the report, emergency responders in Austin were called to assist an unresponsive male at 2:10 a.m. on May 29. Currently, the cause of death is not considered suspicious but will be determined by the medical examiner. Nance reportedly had a history of substance abuse, leading many Bachelorette fans to believe that his death may have been an overdose.

Michael Nance appeared on Season 8 of The Bachelorette in 2012. He competed to win the love of Emily Maynard. During his time on the show, Nance was listed as a rehab counselor from Austin, Texas. Ultimately, Michael went home during Week 4 of the competition and tied for eleventh place while Emily ultimately picked Jef Holm in the end.

Chris Bukowski, who starred alongside Michael in Season 8 of The Bachelorette took to Twitter after learning of his death. “Extremely difficult learning the news of Michael Nance’s passing. He was a gentle man with a huge heart. He’ll be missed but not forgotten,” Bukowski wrote.

Emily Maynard also made a statement about Michael Nance’s death on social media. She took to Twitter with her message, writing, “So sad waking up to the news about Michael Nance. Such a kind heart with so much talent. Sending prayers and love to his family and friends.”

Producer Elan Gale also took to Twitter to share his sadness. “Very sad to hear about the passing of Michael Nance. He was a very sweet and kind man. My thoughts are with his family and friends,” he tweeted.

Michael Nance isn’t the first contestant from Bachelor Nation to pass away. Just over a year ago, Bachelor contestant Lex McAllister died of suicide from a drug overdose. She was featured in Season 14 of the ABC show. Gia Allemand, who also competed in Season 14, took her own life after a fight with her NBA star boyfriend Ryan Anderson.

This year has been tough on Bachelor Nation with the recent arrest and upcoming trial of Chris Soules after he accidentally rear-ended the tractor that one of his neighbors was driving in rural Iowa. Kenny Mosher was pronounced dead at the scene, and all might have blown over with that tragedy except that Soules has been accused of leaving the scene and then refused to let police into his home hours later until they produced a search warrant.

Season 13 of The Bachelorette premiered on May 22 and fans are just getting to know Rachel Lindsay and her suitors. It is unknown if Michael Nance’s death will be mentioned at any point when the ABC reality show competition airs. However, Bachelor Nation is known for being very tight knit, like family. They will certainly be remembering Nance for the man that he was and will grieve his loss together.

In addition to the famous reality TV names that we all recognize from the Bachelor and Bachelorette series’, many of Michael Nance’s friends and family have taken the time to say goodbye today. Several fans posted pictures they had taken with Nance after running into him in Austin and other places after he became known for his run on the ABC show. It’s clear that Michael Nance will be missed by many.
