WWE Extreme Rules: Roman Reigns Proceeds To Fatal 5-Way In Bid To Challenge Brock Lesnar
After Roman Reigns defeated Seth Rollins in last night’s WWE Raw main event, all eyes now turn to the highly anticipated upcoming Fatal 5-Way during the WWE Extreme Rules match on Sunday.
Roman Reigns had a shaky start during last night’s clash with Seth Rollins, which gave Rollins the opportunity to gain an advantage over Reigns. However, Reigns executed a savage Drive-By smacking Rollins’ ribs into a pole. Now competing with injured ribs, Rollins began to lose his advantage.
There were some spectacular moves and heavy hits, including a new finisher from Rollins. Rollins unsuccessfully attempted a Phoenix Splash, which Reigns nimbly dodged, and was struck down by an aggressive Spear from Reigns. Even though Rollins put up a good fight, in the end, it was Reigns who came out on top following an incredible recovery towards the end of the game.
After the face-off the two former The Shield members exchanged heated words, renewing their infamous rivalry. Seth Rollins angered Roman Reigns when he left The Shield to team up with Triple H and The Authority instead. A lot of that historical tension was vented during last night’s confrontation.
Reigns and Rollins are competing for a chance to meet Brock Lesnar in the ring for the Universal Championship.
A valiant effort from @WWERollins, but it is in fact #TheBigDog @WWERomanReigns' YARD tonight! #RAW pic.twitter.com/Hb0oQVExMN

Both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have their own beef with Lesnar, adding even more fuel to the fire between the superstars. At WrestleMania 31, The Beast clashed with Reigns in pursuit of the WWE Championship. However, it was Rollins who ultimately walked away with the title.
Roman Reigns’ victory on Monday night will undoubtedly see him gain confidence and momentum ahead of Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way. Joining Reigns in the ring for the Extreme Rules match is Finn Bálor, Bray Wyatt, Samoa Joe, and his most recent opponent, Seth Rollins.
The Fatal 5-Way in the upcoming WWE Extreme Rules showdown is a first for the wrestling giant. If Reigns seriously intends to be the victor, he will have to bring an A-game while facing the other four superstars in the Extreme Rules match to determine who will meet The Beast for the championship.
It was Reigns who brought down The Undertaker at WrestleMania and ensured that Braun Strowman was out of the way for at least six months, but facing four superstars in one match will certainly put his determination and stamina to the test in ways he may not be used to.
Two of the other contenders in the WWE Extreme Rules 5-Way, Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe, have nothing but contempt for each other. However, if they want to give themselves an edge for Sunday’s event, they will need to put their differences aside during what promises to be a brutal battle of epic proportions.
Bray Wyatt will in all likelihood do his best to live up to his title as The New Face of Fear, having shown his mettle time and again with his creative approaches in the ring.
Finn Balor also brings with him some interesting history. Balor won the first Universal Championship and had never officially been beaten for the title. In fact, it was an injury that forced Balor to relinquish the coveted winning spot. Will this add zeal to Finn Balor’s desire to meet Brock Lesnar for the championship?
Does anyone have more momentum heading into the #ExtremeRules #Fatal5Way than @WWERomanReigns after this win? #RAW pic.twitter.com/3qHja8cVFW
