Bob Arum Says If Floyd Mayweather Won’t Fight Conor McGregor, Manny Pacquiao Will
Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum said that if Floyd Mayweather changed his mind about fighting the UFC champion, Conor McGregor, that Manny would step up to the plate, TMZ reported.
McGregor revealed over a week ago that he signed his end of the deal, and is waiting for Mayweather to sign his. Floyd hasn’t mentioned the fight lately, and many speculate he may not have been serious about fighting the UFC champ.
According to MMA Mania, Mayweather revealed that there is a 90 percent chance that he will fight McGregor. He added that the only thing he has to prove is that he can break his record—that is his pay-per-view history.
“There’s no rush, ” Mayweather said. “The only fight that makes sense to me is the McGregor fight.”
“I guess I have one more obstacle that I have to get over. When we make a move it’s going to be huge. When Floyd Mayweather fights, it’s history. If I do fight, there’s a 90 percent chance it’s against Conor McGregor. When I get back to the US, I’ll call Al Haymon and see our next move. There’s no rush. The only thing I am chasing is my own records. And, I mean pay-per-view records.”
Floyd and Conor will have their work cut out for them if they want to break the $4.5 million per-per-view buys that his fight with Manny Pacquiao produced. Mayweather believes that the fight against McGregor is one that the fans, both boxing, and UFC, want to see and they will pay up to see them battle it out.
Conor has been trying to get Floyd’s attention on social media for the past few days. Mayweather has yet to sign the contract to make their fight a reality. Conor wants to get it out of the way, so he knows that the fight will happen on such and such day. Yet, getting Floyd to make the fight official is turning out to be quite a workout.
TMZ caught up with Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, who revealed that dealing with Mayweather’s camp is not a fun experience. He said that you have to stay strong and not let his people force you to make a deal you don’t want. McGregor and Mayweather are looking at walking away with nearly $100 million for the fight.
Arum added that if it turns out that Conor and Floyd can’t come together to make a deal, Pacquiao would love to fight the UFC champ.

This isn’t the first time that Manny’s name has been suggested to fight Conor. A few months ago, Pacquiao said he would fight McGregor. At the time, the UFC champ was onboard with the idea. He felt that it would be a great matchup, but UFC president, Danna White shot down the idea.
“If McGregor will fight me in boxing, why not? But not in MMA. MMA is much different than boxing,” Manny said in January.
Dana White was not interested in Conor fighting Manny. In fact, he revealed his problem with it had nothing to do with Pacquiao, but he didn’t like his promoter, Bob Arum.
“Listen, I love Manny Pacquiao. But I don’t love Bob Arum. You can tell Arum to save his money and not make any calls over here because we aren’t doing business with him.”
The boxing match everyone wants to see is between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. Both sides have trash talked each other so much that many boxing and UFC fans want to see, once and for all, who is the better fighter.
The ball is in Floyd Mayweather’s court, all he has to do is sign the contract.
