Is Kim Kardashian Headed Into Politics? Reality Star Reportedly Switching Focus To Save ‘KUWTK’s’ Ratings
Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s dipping ratings have been a huge topic of discussion over the past few years. The show that helped propel the Kardashian family into superstardom and has spawned countless spinoffs just isn’t pulling in the numbers that it once was. Kris Jenner, the matriarch and momager of the Kardashian family, reportedly has a plan to remedy that, and it involves Kim Kardashian and her famous sisters dipping their toes into the political arena, according to Radar Online.
“In an upcoming episode [of KUWTK] you will see Kim attending Planned Parenthood with her camera crew,” sources told the publication. “Kris is encouraging all the girls to talk about what is going on in the country and is pushing for at least one of her kids to be a Trump supporter.”
“Kris knows TV, if they all agree it is boring. Kris wants controversy and disagreements and nothing does that more at the moment than talking politics.”
If this report is to be believed, Kris Jenner wants to create more conflict amongst her family for the sake of views. It wouldn’t be the first time that manufactured drama was used to boost ratings on reality television.
That said, Kris Jenner’s strategy could actually work. Planned Parenthood’s future is a hot-button political issue, with Donald Trump’s administration rallying around to defund it. By pitting the sisters against each other and making them choose sides, Kris Jenner might be able to translate that drama into more views.
If nothing else, the Kardashians aligning themselves with Planned Parenthood could definitely garner themselves more attention, even if it’s outside of their reality show. In fact, it already has. Two weeks ago, Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian visited Planned Parenthood and documented their visit on their Instagram accounts.
“My sisters and I visited Planned Parenthood recently and learned that the House of Representatives forced through a bill that strips health care coverage from millions of people and raises health care costs, including Planned Parenthood patients. They are such an amazing place that provides so much to so many! #istandwithpp,” Kim wrote via Instagram.
“Visited @PPLosAngeles yesterday and learned so much,” Khloé wrote via Instagram. “2.5MM rely on PP for care -birth control, cancer-screenings, STD testing and so much more!”
It remains to be seen if their visit will indeed end up documented on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, though it’s probably safe to assume that it will be. And if the ratings favor them, it’s also probably safe to assume that the world will be hearing more about the Kardashians’ political opinions.
If Kim Kardashian and her famous sisters do decide to get political, they would be in good company. Caitlyn Jenner, though admittedly estranged from much of the Kardashian family, recently announced her desire to pursue a career in politics.

While speaking at “Imagining Men & Women: Caitlyn Jenner on Transgender Identity and Courage,” Caitlyn Jenner revealed that, though she’s been urged by friends and family to run for office, she never considered it because she had too many secrets. Now that she’s written her memoir and has publicized her transition from male to female, Caitlyn Jenner doesn’t feel weighed down by the skeletons of her past and is considering using her influence to fix what she feels like Donald Trump has destroyed.

“My loyalties are not with the Republican Party. My loyalties are not with Donald Trump,” she said.
“I’ll come after him and come after Republicans when they start screwing up my community. And I got a voice and they’d better listen because I will come after them. And so, over the next year or two, I would look at where I can be more effective in helping my community.”
Perhaps future episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians will see Caitlyn and the Kardashians will team up and pursue politics — together.
