First ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Poster Lands, Teaser Trailer Arrives In 48 Hours
The first poster for Star Trek Into Darkness has now arrived.
Suitably apocalyptic given the official synopsis — the USS Enterprise crew are recalled to Earth only to find an “unstoppable force of terror” has wreaked mass havoc, prompting a manhunt to capture the man responsible — the poster will undoubtedly whet fanboy/girl anticipation.
A spotting of “The Gherkin” building in the background suggests the figure is Cumberbatch’s “formidable” villain surveying his handiwork in a now decimated London.
The next chapter in Paramount’s franchise reboot will reunite Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, and Anton Yelchin and introduce Sherlock lead Benedict Cumberbatch, Noel Clarke, Alice Eve, and Peter Weller.
With little to nothing shown in the 3-frame movie clip that premiered on Conan in October — except for Spock and a volcano — Thursday is the next major date for Star Trek fans.
Today, TrekMovie.comexclusively revealed that a “teaser trailer of about a minute or so in length will debut online on December 6.”
It will contain footage from the movie, and there will be apparently be some “overlap” between Thursday’s debut and the longer trailer that will play in front of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14.
It should be noted that those attending IMAX 3D screenings of The Hobbit will get to see the first nine minutes of the film.
Helmed by J.J Abrams and penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof, Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters on May 17, 2013.
