Gwen Stefani Reveals If She’ll Ever Return To ‘The Voice’ [Video]

Gwen Stefani is revealing if she has plans to ever return to The Voice after it was confirmed that she’d be leaving the show alongside Alicia Keys after Season 12.

Gwen, who joked that she was “in mourning” after walking the red carpet backstage at the NBC show in an all-black ensemble, spoke out about her plans to return – or not – in a new interview, revealing the sad news that as of right now it’s not in the cards for her to reclaim her red spinning chair anytime soon.

“I don’t know,” Stefani replied when asked by Entertainment Tonight if fans of the series can expect to see her back on the show as a coach after she and Alicia vacate their seats to make way for Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson.

“I don’t have any plans to come back,” Gwen then continued ahead of The Voice finale, though the “Used To Love You” singer did admit that she will still be around backstage during Season 13 to spend a little time with boyfriend Blake Shelton.

“I’ll let everyone know that I love being here and I’d love to come back,” Stefani said of her return. “I’ll be here to hang out and, like, hang out with Blake and try to hang out with Adam [Levine],” Gwen joked.

Gwen’s departure from the show came as a shock to fans as Stefani told TV Guide mere days before it was announced that she would not be back The Voice’s thirteenth season that she was actually hoping to be back for another round of shows after returning earlier this year.

When asked before the big announcement that Jennifer and Miley would be by Blake and Adam’s side when the show continues later this year, Stefani confirmed that she wanted to continue and would have been open to sticking around for Season 13.

“I don’t know anything yet,” Stefani confessed shortly before NBC confirmed that she would not be back on The Voice later this year. “I would be open to continuing; I love it.”

NBC have not officially confirmed if it was their decision or Gwen’s to sit out Season 13, though Stefani’s confession that she doesn’t have any plans as of right now to return seems to suggest that she may not be filling the vacant seat for Season 14.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Kelly Clarkson will be sitting alongside Blake and Adam when the show returns for Season 14 in early 2018, though it’s still yet to be confirmed who will serve as The Voice’s all-important fourth coach, which could mean Stefani isn’t a contender to head back to the show in early 2018.

But while fans of The Voice may have to wait a while to see Stefani back in her red spinning chair, Gwen’s confession that she’ll still be on set “hanging out” with boyfriend Blake will likely come as good news to fans of the couple.

Stefani has been posting regular snaps to social media of herself and Shelton spending some quality time together backstage at the NBC show over the past few months, most recently sharing a photo of the two sharing a kiss following the first half of the Season 12 finale on May 22.

Ahead of grand finale on May 23, Gwen took to Instagram to share a picture of Shelton planting a kiss on her lips which appeared to be taken backstage at The Voice. Gwen then followed up her initial post with a snap of herself and Shelton hanging out in her trailer.

Gwen’s kissing snap came just days after Stefani gave fans another glimpse at her love for Shelton backstage at The Voice, as she shared a photo of herself and Blake relaxing together while she showed off her unique shoes featuring Blake’s face.
