Han Solo Movie: First Official Set Photos Released, Did Disney Accidentally Give Away The Secret Location?
Even though Star Wars fans already know, in their heart of hearts, that Harrison Ford was — and is — the only person who could ever bring the swash-buckling space pirate Han Solo to life, the new Han Solo movie is trying to get us to accept a young Alden Ehrenreich as the young version of the most famous swashbuckler in the galaxy far, far away. Whether Disney — and, by extension, Lucasfilm — succeeds in doing this remains to be seen, however, you have to give them credit for trying.
According to the Daily Express, the first official images of the as-yet-untitled Han Solo movie have been released. Showing a raven-haired Ehrenreich wearing a brown leather jacket, the images — which also feature Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian — also have us all asking one question: Where’s Chewbacca?
“There are some familiar touches but also some major changes to how we are used to seeing the iconic character. His hair is once again much longer and fuller, even more so than in A New Hope. He is also dressed all in black, rather than his customary dark brown and leathers.”
These images came out just one day after official sketches of the character’s concept surfaced on eBay.

Meanwhile, according to Gizmodo, there’s another thing we, as fans, got to see in the new Han Solo movie: the vehicles. While Han Solo is best known for riding in the Millennium Falcon, he didn’t always have that way of getting around. Fans of the movies will recall that Solo won the Falcon after beating Lando Calrissian in a game of sabaac (a card game).
The new vehicles, however, show what seems like a spirited game of podracing, similar to what Anakin Skywalker did when he was younger and living on Tatooine.
“TMZ has a bevy of images from filming, featuring Ehrenreich milling around the set (in a new costume), which is packed with all sorts of amazingly weird Star Wars speeder/normal car hybrids for filming.”
Making Star Wars, a reliable spoiler site, has also released an exclusive video about the filming, which you can check out below.
What’s an even bigger spoiler, however, is where, exactly, the new Han Solo movie is taking place. According to a different report for the Daily Express, however, we may have an idea.

The outlet is reporting that some of the exclusive behind-the-scenes photos show a desert planet, suggesting that Han Solo’s early life could have taken place either on Jakku or Tatooine.
Of course, these pictures only show a desert planet, not really Jakku or Tatooine, so that part is all speculation. However, it’s a nice idea to consider.
“The aerial photograph was taken over the film site on the golden sands of Cañada de la Barca, in the Jandía peninsula. A local news site Noticias Fuerteventura released the shot with the caption: ‘First images of the Star Wars encampment in Fuerteventura.’ The set-up started weeks ago on the second-largest Canary Island and the new photograph shows how much is already in place for the shoot. The distinctive-shaped buildings look exactly like the sandstone constructions in the poor outer desert communities on Tatooine. A New Hope showed similar vistas and architecture in the famous shots of Luke’s childhome home with his aunt and uncle, Owen and Beru Lars, although the new sets look even more like the beginning of Mos Eisley.”
There’s been no official release date, as of yet, for the Han Solo movie.
