Was Taylor Swift Trying To Keep Her New British Hunk Jo Alwyn A Secret?
A year after Hiddleswift swept the world, Taylor Swift has reportedly found another romance. The singer has been uncharacteristically silent on social media all year, but insider sources reveal that she’s secretly dating British hunk Joe Alwyn. Here’s everything we know about Swift’s new man.
According to Vanity Fair, Alwyn is a British actor who is beginning to make a name for himself in the entertainment world. The 26-year-old started in British theater before landing a role in Ang Lee’s 2016 movie, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. The filmmaker has worked with other popular British stars in the past, including Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson. The movie didn’t get a lot of attention but featured cameos by Steve Martin, Kristen Stewart, and Vin Diesel.
People reports that Alwyn opened up about his role in Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and admitted that it was nice to be in the spotlight for once.
“It’s really nice to have people excited about … me,” he explained when asked about the role. “But it’s hard to get caught up in that. Maybe it’s just my nature. I just want to take things a day at a time.”
Alwyn is slated to appear alongside some notable names this year in the film The Sense of an Ending, starring Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling. He also has a part alongside Gerard Butler in Keepers. Next year, Alwyn will hit the big screens with Swift’s good friend, Emma Stone.
Taylor Swift has not commented on her new relationship. The award-winning singer has allegedly been renting a home in London, where Alwyn has been spotted hanging out. The two are reportedly keeping their romance a secret until they are ready to go public.
Meanwhile, E! News reports that Alwyn still lives in his parent’s home despite his success in film. His mom is a psychotherapist and his dad makes documentary films. Back in February, Alwyn revealed that he isn’t in any hurry to leave his parent’s abode.
While Alwyn isn’t a household name, he has been called Hollywood’s next big star. Given his upcoming movie lineup, it definitely looks like Alwyn has a promising career on the big screens. Whether or not he becomes an A-list star, on the other hand, is yet to be seen.
Before acting, Alwyn worked as a model for a brief time. He even did a photo shoot with Gigi Hadid — another one of Swift’s good friends — last fall. He has also went to the Royal Central School of Speech and studied theater at the Drama and City of London School.
As far as Swift is concerned, Alwyn isn’t her first boyfriend named Joe. As fans will recall, Tay dated Joe Jonas for a time. Although Alwyn’s status with his parents is a bit strange for Hollywood, Swift’s former boyfriend, Conor Kennedy, also lived with his parents while they dated.
Swift, of course, previously dated British star Tom Hiddleston. The two ended their high-profile romance in September of 2016. It isn’t clear why they broke up, but it’s good to see Swift moving on without making a big deal out it.
Unfortunately, Swift still hasn’t confirmed her relationship with Alwyn. The two are allegedly going to great lengths to keep everything secret, including wearing disguises in public to keep their identities hidden. With Alwyn starting to break out in Hollywood, perhaps this will change soon.
Alwyn has not commented about his alleged romance with Swift. The Sense of an Ending was released in theaters back in March while an official release date for Keepers has not been announced.
