This weekend the couple was spotted in New York City, cuddling close in Central Park and putting an official start to the relationship that until that point had only been rumored. But as Taylor Swift and Harry Styles got close, reporters were piecing together the timeline of their relationship to realize that Swift likely dumped former fling Conor Kennedy to get with Styles, and the relationships may have even overlapped.

Perez Hilton points out that Swift and One Direction singer Harry Styles were rumored to have had a fling before Taylor started dating Conor Kennedy this summer. Despite the fact that Swift fell hard for Kennedy, even buying a home across from his family’s compound in Hyannisport, Massachusetts, it appears she cut the relationship short to get back with Styles.

As evidence of the claim, Perez Hilton points out that Taylor was seen wearing the same paper airplane necklace that Harry had, just weeks after she and Kennedy called it quits in October. But it may have started even before then for Taylor Swift and Harry Styles — the two young singers were seen hanging out together and getting close at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards on October 7, while Swift and Kennedy were still officially together.
