Liam Payne Disses Harry Styles’ Music, Says It’s Not Something He’d Listen To

Liam Payne just dissed Harry Styles in a major way. The 23-year-old, who’s doing promotion for his debut solo record, Strip This Down, was less than enthusiastic about Harry Style’s solo album, which was released last week.

The new father did an interview with Music Choice Now to talk about his solo material. Of course, he was asked what he thought of this former band members’ solo endeavors. He first commented on Niall Horan’s solo debut, which came out in September of last year.

“I heard the rest of the boys’ debut songs. Obviously, Niall had ‘Slow Hands’ out and he had ‘This Town,’ which is great. Niall’s gone down the singer/songwriter route which is really cool.”

When Liam Payne was asked about Harry Styles, his tune changed a little.

“Harry’s song, I heard. And I’ll be honest with you, it’s not my sort of music so it’s not something I’d listen to,” he said.

He added, “I think he did a great job of doing what he wanted to do. That’s the way I’d put it best.”

It didn’t seem that Liam said his comments in malice, however. Harry and Liam’s musical tastes are very different, as evidenced by their debut solo tracks, a point which Liam pointed out.

“I think the funny thing is that he’d say the same thing about me because he doesn’t really listen to hip-hop music, whereas my song’s more like ‘Rack City’ and his song is more of from a different era.”

Harry Styles hasn’t commented on Liam’s comments, and it’s unlikely that he will. Harry Style has made of habit of refusing to bash people in the media, even those that don’t speak too highly of him like Taylor Swift and now, Liam Payne.

Sweet Creature is available now. Album is available in ten days. I am available always.

A group who has been quite vocal abut Liam’s opinions are none other than his own fans, a great deal of whom are also fans of Harry Styles. The dedicated fans do not want the media to pit the former band members against each other, and usually, speak out against publications that do so. The fact that the comments came directly from Liam has angered a large portion of the fans and they were not shy about expressing their disappointment.

YouTube commenter, Louis Tomlinson (not to be confused with the famous Louis Tomlinson) questioned Liam’s loyalty.

“I think Harry’s the only one who cares about 1D now tbh.”

Another user, Megan Dodd, couldn’t believe her ears.

“Did he seriously just say he didn’t like SOTT?”

One user threw logic out of the window and just jumped down the conspiracy rabbit hole.

“He’s Liam’s clone #confirmed,” wrote a user named Hoshiko.

Then there were the commenters who felt that Liam Payne dissed Harry in an effort to further distance himself from his One Direction roots.

“He’s trying to be like ‘oh I’m gangsta now and smoke s–t up and can’t be related with one direction as it’s not cool’,” wrote user, Evie.

Only Liam Payne knows his true motives. By Evie’s logic, Liam Payne would have dissed Niall Horan’s music as well, which he did not. It could very well be that he just doesn’t care for Harry Style’s music from and artistic standpoint, not from a personal one.

Liam will have a chance to clarify his comments in the future, as every member of One Direction is constantly asked about his former bandmates.
