‘Today’s’ Savannah Guthrie Allegedly Left Out Of Meeting Between Matt Lauer And Megyn Kelly
Today’s Savannah Guthrie was allegedly left out of a meeting between Matt Lauer and Megyn Kelly that was held during dinner on Monday night, according to a new report. After months of rumors about Megyn’s presence at NBC threatening the big-name journalists at the network, it continues after the former Fox News star was seen with Today’s main anchor in NYC without Guthrie earlier this week. A source claims that Megyn and Matt were the only two at dinner talking about business.
An insider said to be close to Savannah Guthrie alleges to Radar Online that the Today co-host wasn’t invited to dinner with Matt Lauer and Megyn Kelly because they wanted to have a “frank” and “honest” discussion. Guthrie wasn’t the only Today host uninvited, however.
“Savannah was not invited. Neither was Al Roker or Hoda Kotb, or any other members of the family. The two of them wanted to be alone and have a frank and honest conversation.”
Allegedly, there’s trouble behind-the-scenes with power struggles at play, the source says. All three are supposedly battling over control and for their jobs. The source insists that Savannah Guthrie is “mad” about Matt Lauer and Megyn Kelly going to dinner.
“Savannah is mad. She seems to think the dinner was shady, and it was done behind her back.”
The source adds that Matt and Megyn are “teaming up together” because everyone should have been included at dinner if it was welcoming Kelly to the Today family. Savannah was under the impression that she and Matt and were a team, but she’s learning not to fully trust Matt after this incident.

As previously reported, Megyn Kelly will helm the 9 a.m. hour of Today, the hour Al Roker and Tamron Hall co-hosted. Tamron left the network after it was announced that she and Roker would no longer be hosting the program for that hour.
NBC have already responded to false rumors about Savannah Guthrie being pushed out of Today by saying that she’s not going anywhere and has signed a multi-million contract to remain with the network. A rep for the studio told Gossip Cop back in January that it’s untrue Megyn is replacing Savannah. NBC hired Megyn because they wanted someone of her caliber and talent for their team.
The fact-checking came on the heels of a report published by Page Six, in which a source claimed that Megyn was being “groomed” to eventually take Savannah Guthrie’s place alongside Matt Lauer.
Megyn will also host a Sunday night news magazine scheduled to premiere in June. She’ll take over the 9 a.m. slot of Today in September. Details about her daily show are unknown at this point.

Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, and Chuck Todd gathered to represent NBC at Upfronts on Monday. The top anchors for NBC were all smiles for the cameras.
Despite confirmations from NBC that Kelly isn’t aiming for Savannah Guthrie’s job, the rumors are still alive and well. There hasn’t been any evidence of behind-the-scenes feuds and frictions over the hiring of Megyn aside from Tamron Hall’s abrupt exit from the network. Today’s Hoda Kotb, who co-hosts the 10 a.m. hour with Kathie Lee Gifford, is eager to work with Megyn and hopes to bring out her “wild” side. Lauer told TV Insider that he views Megyn as “multi-talented,” “remarkable,” and a “real journalist” who’ll fit right in at NBC.
