Mariah Carey Relationships And Career: Star Rumored To Be New X Factor Judge And Back With Cannon
Mariah Carey has experienced quite an interesting year so far. Her 2016 ended with a broken engagement after being dumped by her billionaire beau James Packer, then swiftly moved on to her boy-toy back up dancer Bryan Tanaka. The new year began with a horrific performance by Mimi at the NYC ball drop ceremony which led her to blame everyone else for the terrible vocals.
A split from Tanaka happened only a few months after they began their romance, and ever since the two parted ways romantically, Mariah has been spending more and more time with her ex-husband Nick Cannon. Cannon and Carey just finalized their divorce around the same time that Packer called off his engagement to Carey. Nick has always gushed about Mariah, and the two have remained very close since they parted ways in December of 2014.
Although there has been no confirmation that Nick and Mariah are reconciling on a romantic level, it sure seems like there is a very strong possibility that reconciliation is in the works. Cannon has been spotted out on the town with the diva on many occasions and even stated to a reporter who asked whether he and Mariah are official that they have always been official.

Also, it was made known by the America’s Got Talent host that he was not a fan of Mariah’s backup dancer beau and didn’t even believe that the relationship was real. The host spoke with Howard Stern about how he found the whole relationship to be scripted while he tuned into the songstress’ reality series Mariah’s World.
US Weekly relayed the words of Cannon when he chatted about the reality series and relationship Carey had with Tanaka at the time.
“I don’t even get into it. It feels like they wrote the story. That s**t is like a soap opera…This is the world that we’re in, but when you start trying to pull a fast one on people, that s**t is silly.”
There were even rumors that recently swirled indicating that Nick Cannon was part of the reason that Mariah and Bryan split. There, of course, was also speculation that the two were only together for added publicity for the program and to help the diva’s image recover after being dumped. There has been no confirmation of this, however.

Regarding Mariah’s next steps in her career, it seems that the talent is ready to take on a new judging role and is in talks to be the newest X Factor panel member. Although Carey had a rocky road when she was a judge on American Idol a few years back, she clearly was not fully turned off from the idea of taking on a similar role. The Toronto Sun shares the details about the potential latest endeavor for the diva.
“The Hero hitmaker is being lined up as a replacement for Nicole Scherzinger on the U.K. version of the singing competition…Producers at ITV have been in talks with the pop diva after the former Pussycat Doll is reportedly stalling over signing a new contract.”
An insider shared supposed details about this new role Mariah may soon take on.
“Mariah really wants to do it. Nicole is not committing at the moment, although she did meet up with Simon Cowell this week. I hope everyone is on board this year, but I have heard Nicole has not signed. She might be getting a big movie like Wicked. Mel B’s done it before, so would be good, and she’s currently on the U.S. (America’s Got Talent) show with Simon.”
So only time will tell whether Nick and Mariah are back on and whether we will see the diva in the judgment seat anytime soon.
