Bella Hadid Wears Daring High Slit Pink Gown, Flashes Matching Underwear At Cannes Film Festival
Bella Hadid made her second Cannes appearance on Wednesday evening in a daring, high slit pink gown that was only a little less revealing than the famous red dress she wore at Cannes last year. Although she bared a little less flesh this year, she still managed to turn heads when she hit the red carpet on the opening night of the Cannes Film Festival. She also recorded the first wardrobe malfunction for this year’s festival when she flashed matching pink underwear as she ascended the Palais des Festivals.
Twenty-year-old Hadid hit the red carpet and posed for photographs at the 70th Cannes International Film Festival’s Opening Gala, which also featured a screening of Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael), starring Marion Cotillard.
Hadid followed up her appearance last year in a daring bright red Alexandre Vautheir gown with a gorgeous pink-colored Alexandre Vautheir dress this year. The strapless silk gown with a plunging sweetheart neckline design featured a high slit that ran very high indeed, up her long legs to her groin.
Hadid complemented the daring dress with a sapphire pendant and jeweled high heels.

Hadid’s gown earned the record of the dress with the highest leg slit of the night, although everyone agreed that it did not quite beat the record she set last year in her sensational bright red dress that featured a bold slit that ran up to her hips, displaying long slim legs and more.
She later described the red dress, which hung precariously on her slim figure and left almost nothing to the imagination, as a “big risk,” according to the Telegraph.
Hadid’s “big risk” last year paid off as she suffered no noticeable wardrobe malfunction besides the essential malfunction that is the nature of a dress cut to display most of the wearer’s torso as well as hips, up to the waist.
There was speculation that the marginal modesty of her pink Alexandre Vautheir gown this year might have been due to the influence of her real estate developer dad, Mohamed Hadid, who escorted her to the festival.
Mohammed Hadid stood proudly by his stunning daughter on the red carpet as she posed for photographs. The two had stopped for an ice cream each before hitting the red carpet.
However, although Hadid managed, miraculously, to avoid a mishap last year, she was not so lucky this year. She flashed matching pink underwear as she hit the carpet with her dad, Mohammed. She flashed even more underwear and crotch as she ascended the stairs of the Palais des Festivals.
Other actresses and models that hit the red carpet at the opening ceremony of this year’s Cannes Film Festival included Susan Sarandon, Emily Ratajkowski, Naomie Harris and Elle Fanning.

Bella was photographed greeting actress Susan Sarandon, 70, on the red carpet. The older woman was dressed in a long green velvet dress.
Gone Girl actress and model Emily Ratajkowski, 25, also hit the red carpet at Cannes in a dress similar to Hadid’s. Her pale satin gown by Twinset was designed with spaghetti straps and thigh-high split, according to Vanity Fair.
Nineteen-year-old Fanning was dressed in a unicorn-printed Vivienne Westwood gown and skirt.
Johnny Depp’s daughter, the 17-year-old actress and model Lily-Rose Depp, appeared in a white dress with gold trimmings. Lily-Rose’s mother, Vanessa Paradis, was also dressed in a Grecian-style white gown with gold trimmings.
Although Cannes is essentially a film festival, the red carpet has become a major attraction with more models and high society figures competing with actors and film directors for attention. Cannes Film Festival is now noted for its red carpet fashion display, as well as for the quality of its film titles.
