Lindsey Graham: ‘Crazy Bastards’ Detainees Should Stay At Guantanamo Bay
Lindsay Graham (R-SC) says the terrorist detainees at Guantanamo Bay are “crazy bastards” that need to stay there and should not be relocated to anywhere on American soil. According to Fox News, fellow Republican Senator Rand Paul (R-KY0) disagreed with the so-called “crazy bastards standard,” saying that if “we’re going to lock up all the crazy bastards, for goodness sakes, would you not want, if you’re a crazy bastard, to have a right to trial by jury?”
Lindsey Graham is currently fighting Democrats over the nuclear option that would take away the filibuster that is a major negotiating tool in solving the fiscal cliff problems. The “crazy bastards” quote by Lindsey Graham came out of a Senate debate on whether or not the terrorists detained at Guantanamo Bay should be brought into America to stand trial for their crimes.
“Simply stated, the American people don’t want to close Guantanamo Bay, which is an isolated, military-controlled facility, to bring these crazy bastards that want to kill us all to the United States,” Lindsay Graham said during the debate on the US Senate floor. “Some of my colleagues in this body have forgotten what 9/11 is all about. The people who attacked us on 9/11, in that prison, want to destroy our way of life. They don’t want to steal your car. They don’t want to break in your house. And we’ve got a military prison being well run, so I think the American people are telling everybody in this body, ‘Have you lost your mind? We’re at war. Act like you’re at war.'”
The other plan is to close Guantanamo Bay in hope of depriving Muslim terrorist groups of a power recruiting tool. President Obama previously announced plans in 2009 to retrofit a state prison to house up to 100 terror suspects including 9/11 terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad.
Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) released a report from the Government Accountability Office, saying, “This report demonstrates that if the political will exists, we could finally close Guantanamo without imperiling our national security.”
