Tardar Sauce: Famous Grumpy Cat Raises Money For Charity, Brings Fame To Snowshoe Siamese Breed
Tardar Sauce, the internet’s favorite grumpy cat, is more than a flash in the pan.
A few months after adorable pictures of Tardar Sauce lit up the link sharing site Reddit, pictures of the angry looking Snowshoe cat have remained just as popular. As the Detroit Free Press noted, Tardar Sauce’s owners are using that popularity to help benefit charity.
Tardar gained fame when Bryan Bundesen visited his sister in Arizona, meeting the cat with the permanent scowl. Bundsen took a picture of the cat, Tardar Sauce, and posted it to Reddit. Within it day the picture had a million views on the picture-sharing site Imgur.
Thank to the newfound fame, Bryan has started selling Tardar Sauce t-shirts, Christmas cards, mugs, and other merchandise from his home. The grumpy cat’s fame has earned Bryan some extra money, but also goes to a good cause — he donates a portion of every sale to charity.
“We have sold over 17,000 Christmas cards and we are donating a portion of the proceeds to charity,” Bryan said. “Our first donation was made today to Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue Inc, a no-kill shelter that is near Grumpy Cat.”
Tardar Sauce has remained a huge hit, with the official site, www.grumpycats.com, averaging between 16,000 and 32,000 unique visitors per day. Grumpy Cat’s official YouTube channel has reached more than 6 million views and 12,000 subscribers.
Tardar Sauce is also serving as an ambassador to the Snowshoe Siamese breed, one similar in appearance to the Siamese. A number of searchers have taken to Google to determine the exact breed of Tardar Sauce, with discussions popping up on various cat-related message boards.
