‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ Unleashes A New Trailer, TV Spot [Video]
Director John Luessenhop’s Texas Chainsaw 3D has unleashed a brand new 60-second trailer and a TV spot, according to First Showing.
Although horror fans will certainly flock to theaters to see the latest big screen adventure of Leatherface, the film’s January release date suggests the studio doesn’t have much faith in the project. As most moviegoers will tell you, the vast majority of films released in the early months of the year are generally worth skipping.
The Examiner explains that Texas Chainsaw 3D will pick up after the events of the very first feature: not the 2003 remake starring Jessica Biel but the 1974 original crafted by genre legend Tobe Hooper.
The official synopsis reads as follows:
“Picking up where the 1974 original film ends, the citizens of Newt, Texas decide to burn down the farm house of the Sawyer family for their role in aiding Jeb Sawywer, also know as Leatherface, in countless murders. The entire family is presumed dead with the exception of an infant, Heather, who is placed with an adoptive family.
“Twenty years later, Heather learns of her adoption when a lawyer informs her that her long lost grandmother has left her an inheritance. Heather and her friends travel through Texas to pick up her inheritance, which, unknown to her, includes her cousin Leatherface.”
Internet Movie Database explains that Twisted Pictures swooped in to snag the rights to the franchise after Platinum Dunes announced it was finished with the franchise following the 2007 box office flop Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
Instead of following the storylines laid out by the remakes, producers of the upcoming horror flick decided to craft a proper sequel to Hooper’s original endeavor.
The new trailer and TV spot for Texas Chainsaw 3D have been embedded below. The film — which stars Alexandra Daddario, Tania Raymonde, and Scott Eastwood — opens in theaters across the US on January 4, 2013.
