Stephen Baldwin Convinced Faith Destroyed His Film Career, Defends Angus T. Jones

Actor Stephen Baldwin is convinced his faith played a role in destroying his film career, according to The Daily Dish.

Although Baldwin has appeared in a number of mainstream Hollywood endeavors, his recent output has been of the direct-to-video variety. The actor strongly believes his faith in God prevented him from landing bigger roles.

“I’m getting ready to direct two or three movies next year that are faith-based films,” Baldwin explained. “I’m kind of full-blown faith-based right now and that’s just where I’m at in my walk of Christianity. But isn’t it weird, that as a Christian, I had a casting director come up to me two years ago and say, ‘I’m really sorry because I’ve brought your name up in castings for a while now and they all just look at me like I’m crazy.’ ”

According to the Examiner, Baldwin’s appearance on Good Morning America also included a quick chat about Two and a Half Men star Angus T. Jones. Since the actor believes his faith ultimately destroyed his film career, Baldwin fears the same thing could happen to the young star.

When asked if the backlash which followed Jones’ controversial video was surprising, Baldwin explained he had anticipated the public’s response.

“If you ask me, it just sounds like Angus is having an authentic experience with the gospel of Jesus Christ,” he added.

As for how Jones should handle himself during what is rumored to be the last season of Two and a Half Men, Baldwin offered up the following advice:

“He’s in the last season of the show. I think he’s being very respectful now. I think he ought to walk his walk and stand up for what he believes in and finish out the season and go about his business.”

Although most people would consider Baldwin’s film career to be a failure, the actor has actually carved out quite a niche for himself in the B-movie market. Fans of cheesy low-budget cinema are well versed in the ways of Stephen Baldwin thanks to such efforts as Shark in Venice, Dark Storm, and the Snake King.

While these movies are enjoyable in their own unique way, it’s clearly not the direction he had originally envisioned.

Do you think Stephen Baldwin’s faith played a part in destroying his film career?
